At the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Bush traveled to northeastern Germany in advance of his participation in the G-8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia. Chancellor Merkel hosted President Bush today in the towns of Stralsund and Trinwillershagen, which are in the Chancellor's electoral constituency. The visit, which took place in what had been communist East Germany, underscores our two nations' commitment to advancing freedom and prosperity, and to strengthening the transatlantic partnership.
The President and the Chancellor took part in a joint press conference in the Straslund Town Hall, and the President also spoke in the historic market square. The First Lady visited a Kinderbibliothek (Children's Library) and toured Straslund City Archives and Baroque library, and attended a luncheon.
The First Couple visited St. Nikolai Church and toured it with Pastor Peter Neumann, and later traveled to the village of Trinwillershagen on the German Baltic Sea for a wild pig barbecue.
In tumultuous times it is reassuring to have a President who stands firm on principle and in strength of conviction and courage. Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on a MONSTER Dose!

Oh.........I'm so glad you finally got to see them all, MEG!
Sometimes the President is just so cute I just want to walk up to him and give him a big smack on the cheek (just like he did me!)
Glad you enjoyed them inspite of your dialup woes. :)

It seems an enormous expense, but I would guess that it's done for security reasons, in case someone might have tampered with a vehicle in another country.I can't imagine anyone feeling comfortable with GWB in another vehicle! It is an enormous expense, but I think difficult to argue with!

Thanks for a fabulous dose! I finally got a chance to look through the pics this afternoon in the office. What a wonderful treat!
To: ohioWfan
;-) True, and he's a lot more popular than the conventional wisdom would have us believe.
I think that there is not one Republican member of the House and not one Republican Senator up for reelection who would not want the President going on the campaign trail for him or her. Not one. Not even Chaffee. (bleh)

The stupidest thing any Republican could do in this election would be to run away from President Bush.
He's a winner, and they know it.

Thanks...I have missed the pictures many days.
I was badly injured this spring, April 6, in an auto accident and have been in and out of hospitals and have been pretty "down" for some time. Things are looking better, I started walking again this week! Slowly!
Maybe I will outgrow my wheelchair soon. LOL

Thanks for the superdose. (You know how you always have to "pay" for it when you go away with extra work upon your return; well, here's proof!)
I don't know why but I just love this picture.

The new German PM and our W seem to be very much on the same wave length.

What a character he is! #1 he's watching, listening; #2 he's over there with them as they perform.

That would be true for any election. In 2004, the press bit back the reports that W was being received like a rock star. We were not supposed to know that.

I thought it was kinda cool too, Gretchen.
Color, shadows, facial expressions on both leaders, intensity.
It's a good one.

I wonder, over the history of time, how many world leaders have shown this much love and interest in the 'common' people.........like the ones who come to entertain in a local band.
It's really remarkable, isn't it??
