A Day in the Life of President Bush and Laura (overseas) - 7.13.06

At the invitation of Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Bush traveled to northeastern Germany in advance of his participation in the G-8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia. Chancellor Merkel hosted President Bush today in the towns of Stralsund and Trinwillershagen, which are in the Chancellor's electoral constituency. The visit, which took place in what had been communist East Germany, underscores our two nations' commitment to advancing freedom and prosperity, and to strengthening the transatlantic partnership.

The President and the Chancellor took part in a joint press conference in the Straslund Town Hall, and the President also spoke in the historic market square. The First Lady visited a Kinderbibliothek (Children's Library) and toured Straslund City Archives and Baroque library, and attended a luncheon.

The First Couple visited St. Nikolai Church and toured it with Pastor Peter Neumann, and later traveled to the village of Trinwillershagen on the German Baltic Sea for a wild pig barbecue.

In tumultuous times it is reassuring to have a President who stands firm on principle and in strength of conviction and courage. Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on a MONSTER Dose!

The fires are over 100 miles north east of me.
We had our turn a few yrs. ago with over 2,500 homes destroyed, many in the 1 million dollar plus range.

I saw you did Indian the other evening. A friend and I are doing that next week. Love the food.

We are fortunate to have a really nice Indian restaurant which does take-away as well within a 10 minute walk. The take-away also offers free delivery service.

The restaurant is quite ordinary but the food it lovely especially the meat you can really taste the mutton flavour blending with the herbs and spices.

I believe you have a good one I remember you posting the menu it sounded great. When I visited New England in 1997 I was very disappointed with the Indian food yet we were told by the locals it was a good one. Maybe we have different tastes for Indian than the Americans or at least the Americans in New England.

I hope it tastes better than the wild boar we had in Tahiti. Didn't strike my taste buds at all, nothing like Texas BBQ, that's for sure.

Wonderful pictures, OhioWfan! The ones inside the cathedral are beautiful. The lady to the Chancellor's right (our left) in posts #50 & 55 has the same smile as the Chancellor. They aren't related, are they?

I cooked the ham of a wild hog once, and the longer I cooked it the stronger it smelled. I called my mother-in-law for help, and she said to put barbecue sauce on it. My father-in-law said it was probably a boar.

Peach, they have been killing dogs and horses, too. Nothing is safe from what the news is indicating.

Oh no. I didn't know that, Kate. I'll have to start paying more attention to the news reports. It's so far away from us that although we talked about it with friends at dinner tonight, I only knew that Phoenix had more than one serial killer.

It sounds like you're doing everything you can to stay safe; I wish I could help.
