Bush Job Approval July 12, 2006
Forty-four percent (44%) of Americans Approve of the way that George W. Bush is performing his role as President. That matches the highest reading of the past three months. His support among Republicans is up to 78%.
Twenty-two percent (22%) Strongly Approve. Thats also a three month high water mark. However, it still pales by comparison to the 39% who Strongly Disapprove.
The Presidents ratings are up from their lows of late May possibly aided by a slight increase in confidence concerning the War on Terror. Forty-four percent (44%) now say the U.S. and its allies are winning.
While the Presidents numbers are moving up, Montana Senator Conrad Burns, is trending down. Burns now trails challenger Jon Tester by seven percentage points in his bid for re-election. In Missouri, Senator Jim Talent (R ) and challenger Claire McCaskill (D) are tied at 42% in our latest polling. In Massachusetts , all three Democrats have an edge in the campaign to be Governor of the Bay State. Premium Members can also see the results of our latest Election 2006 polling in Maryland, Colorado, California and Illinois.
On a different topic, Americans strongly believe that election ballots should be printed in English only. Seventy-seven percent (77%) also support requirements for a photo ID before people are allowed to vote.

"Twenty-two percent (22%) Strongly Approve. Thats also a three month high water mark. However, it still pales by comparison to the 39% who Strongly Disapprove"
Nope, no bias there /sarcasm
If the administration would start talking about what has been found by translators in Saddam's documents, including hiding WMD and coordinating with Al Qaeda, support for the president, Republicans, and our military in Iraq would go through the roof.
And Democrats could forget winning another election in my lifetime.
And for those freepers who say the president is just holding his cards until closer to November, I don't think that's his strategy. We said the same thing in the fall of '04 before the presidential election.
I could give a rat's patootie how high or low that number is, as long as I am one of the people who approves of his performance.
The ones who "Strongly Disapprove" can frigging pound sand. And I will enjoy watching them do it.
Knock off the thread hijacking.
I am growing concerned about certain Senate races. It looks like Montana and Pennsylvania are going to be losses.
Are you talking about Santorum? I'm so surprised he's not doing well. He's a staunch conservative, although having said that, maybe that's part of the problem.
Note: It's not a problem with me. But I think the entire world is moving leftward toward entitlements. We let it get out of control for too long and now it's like trying to put toothpaste back in the tube.
Making Tony Snow Press Secretary has had a positive impact on Bush's approval ratings.
Wow, he goes from 33 to 44% (depending on which pole you look at) in about 3 months. Boy this country has zero attention span.
The 39% who strongly disapprove are the same 39% who would happily vote democrat if the Kim Jong-il or Fidel Castro was the nominee...
The other 61%, even the ones in the somewhat disapprove category are the the ones that actually think logically.
The other 23% are illegals.
Speaking of races, I am concerned about our governors race since the Washington Post called Ted Strickland a conservative Democrat. (ACU rating 8) ??? What's up with that??
Anyway, it's time for name that scandall-
What's coming around the bend to stiffel any upward trend in the Presidents poll numbers?
Keep in mind if we dropped three states like California, and New York, and Massachusetts. His approval numbers would be over 50%!!!
I thought President Bush made a fantastic effort in Ohio. He also made a big effort to elect Republicans to the house and Senate.
Other Republicans like Reagan spent a ton of money on themselves and made a huge effort to win a landslides in the presidential race while not doing very well in the House and Senate Races.
People on the right always think presidential candidates should spend the big bucks on the issues that convince them. In Ohio Kerry spent tons of money trying to please people who were going to vote for him anyway. The Bush campaign under the direction of Karl Rove went after Democrats who were opposed to abortion, and Democrats who are opposed to gun grabbers, and Democrats who were in favor of defending America.
There was a time when nearly all voters could be reached using the Main Stream Media. Those days are gone. Those running the Kerry campaign believed nearly all Americans could be reached with over the Air TV, Cable TV, and Radio. That proved not to be true.
Ohio is trending Democratic and Kerry should have won the state. And if both candidates had used conventional media approaches Kerry would have won. But he didn't.
Those who think they know how to win elections and Karl Rove and George Bush don't, need to learn how to read election returns.
I agree and it was a brilliant move.
If this is Rasmussen, there is no bias.
Great post, as always. :-)
