The Bush administration said Wednesday afternoon that Israel must do whatever necessary to protect itself.
The terse response came in the wake of an IDF incursion into south Lebanon following multiple attacks by Hizbullah terrorists on northern Israeli communities and soldiers. Two soldiers were kidnapped and three were killed in the early morning attacks.
like---"kill em all"???? i know i know not PC, too crazy, but ask yourself would the world be better off???
Rice has already called for Restraint from ALL sides
If, and when, it spreads and the US has to get involved me must "Take off the Gloves!" and make it so painful that the survivors have to crawl back to their bombed-out caves and lick their wounds for the next hundred years.
Sadly, I believe you are correct. Having been given every reason to totally terminate Hezbolla and Hamas, Israel, under pressure from the US and Europe, will restrain itself and refuse to prevent future atrocities against its own people. It's flatly suicidal.
NOW is the time to bring the Hammer of the Gods down on these savages. But... someones feeling might get hurt, so instead we'll 'negotiate' until everyone falls asleep. In the future, when Israeli civilians are killed by these booger eating savages, their families will have pacifist governments to thank for it.
The title of this thread is officially BS.
A major improvement....but IMHO, the statement should have include a threat of US military support for Israel.
I've been contending for years that this whole middle east issue could be resolved by the U.S. telling Israel that they could have and keep whatever they can take in 120 days. And that we would support them and stand behind their decisions.
I think the muslim scum has pushed Israel's proverbial button. Either they are intentionally trying to provoke a more widespread war in the area or they are really morons...or both. If the US let's Israel do what they really want, there would be a whole lot less terrorism in the world.
According to the CIA, the religious makeup of Lebanon is:
Muslim 59.7% (Shi'a, Sunni, Druze, Isma'ilite, Alawite or Nusayri), Christian 39% (Maronite Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Melkite Catholic, Armenian Orthodox, Syrian Catholic, Armenian Catholic, Syrian Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Chaldean, Assyrian, Copt, Protestant), other 1.3%
According to their constitution, the President must always be a Maronite Catholic and the Prime Minister, a Muslim.
The State Defartment is as predictable as the sun coming up. If Israel passes wind the wrong way, the Defarters will start the "must exercise restraint" mantra within 24 hours like a broken record. Since I won the bet, you must now pay up by saying something not-very-nice about Queen Jezebel Hillary! :)
Was there ever any doubt?
You're not the only one that has that view! I've also said as much since at least 1973.
You right.
Let's RUMBLE!!!!
I agree with you that America is in the same war with the same people as Israel, and that we will ultimately have to become more focussed and ruthless to win. But the Bush Administration also has to try to keep Pakistan, Qatar and others on side, we have to get useful cooperation from China, Russia, and France at the UNSC, and we have to succeed in Iraq. Because of these things we simply must be more diplomatic and compromising than the Israelis. It's kind of a good cop/bad cop thing. We have a lot of responsibility that others just don't have. And we have to bring the American public along in their general understanding of the Islamist menace. It is a huge, complex set of objectives and it is possible to go to fast and push too hard at this point in time.
Is the CYA believable?
'Tis always better to give than to receive.
Kind of like how the Russkies have shown restraint in fighting the Chechins, or how Pootie Pute was restrained in ordering the "destruction" of those who killed 4 Russkie diplomats a few weeks back? THAT kind of "restrained?"
Sounds good to me - I'll let Olmert know that you blessed the destruction of Hezbollah.
