BOB NOVAK, My Leak Case Testimony: 'I learned Valerie Plame's name from Joe Wilson's entry in 'Who's Who in America'... MORE Published reports that I took the Fifth Amendment, made a plea bargain with the prosecutors or was a prosecutorial target were all untrue... MORE... My primary source has not come forward to identify himself... Bill Harlow, the CIA public information officer who was my CIA source for the column confirming Mrs. Wilson's identity. I learned Valerie Plame's name from Joe Wilson's entry in 'Who's Who in America'... I answered questions using the names of Rove, Harlow and my primary source... I considered his wife's role in initiating Wilson's mission, later confirmed by the Senate Intelligence Committee, to be a previously undisclosed part of an important news story. I reported it on that basis.

I recall after Novak wrote "Plame" and before his pointed to the Who's Who others noted on the web the Who's Who entry, but I read them not the other way around. Might have been cyncooper.

What a fiasco. That's OK, Novak... the damage has been done. Most people, with the help from the MSM, are sure HUGE MONSTROUS AWFUL ILLEGAL CRIMES have been committed here by the Bush administration. The drumbeat went on week after week after week after month. Damn 'em all.
Sometimes curious people just look things up--he had to know Wilson was enough of a pompous a** to get himself listed in W-W in American, so why not take a peak? No skullduggery there. He also might have smelled a rat about that trip to Niger, as you suggested in your scenario, and added 2+2.

I THINK that Joe Wilson is a Soros synchophant and and maybe even doing Hillary's bidding.
PLUS, he has an ego this size of Africa..and LOVES being able to get hours and hours on 60 Minutes and Meet the Press and Hairball..
PLUS, don't forget what we have learned in the last few days for sure...that there IS a rogue group in the CIA that wants to take Bush DOWN...his wifey is probably one of them.
BTW, using the left's logic about the NYT and leaks, even if Plame had been covert and Novak leaked it, so what?
The bad guys KNOW we're going after them, they already KNOW we have CIA agents and front companies and the like, so what's the big deal? It's not like they were learning anything new.

I've never seen a mention, much less a discussion to Valerie Plame's Post Partum Depression being a hindrance, or danger, to the CIA. I think it's brilliant.

Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has informed my attorneys that, after two and one-half years, his investigation of the CIA leak case concerning matters directly relating to me has been concluded. That frees me to reveal my role in the federal inquiry that, at the request of Fitzgerald, I have kept secret.
I have cooperated in the investigation while trying to protect journalistic privileges under the First Amendment and shield sources who have not revealed themselves. I have been subpoenaed by and testified to a federal grand jury. Published reports that I took the Fifth Amendment, made a plea bargain with the prosecutors or was a prosecutorial target were all untrue.
