FBI to probe Quran abuse on video

CHATTANOOGA - The FBI will look into an online video that shows two men shooting a Quran with a military rifle and then leaving the bullet-riddled holy book at a Chattanooga mosque, an agent said Monday.

FBI agent Tim Burke said the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations asked the Justice Department to investigate the incident. He said no one from the local Muslim community had complained.

Justice Department spokesman Eric Holland said the request would be reviewed carefully.

Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Islamic group, said the video may have been recorded in Chattanooga a year ago.

The video titled "kill the koran" was posted on MySpace.com last month, Hooper said. It could still be seen on the Web site Monday.

Abdul Raheem Kabah, who Hooper identified as the imam, or prayer leader, of the Chattanooga mosque, did not return telephone messages Monday seeking comment.

A man on the Web site identifies himself as "mully88" and claims to live in Chattanooga. The author's profile lists as heroes "anybody that has killed a muslim or at least tried to kill a muslim." The site also contains slurs against Hispanics and blacks.

Why? Is it now a federal crime to desecrate the Korna?

Perhaps we ought to videotape other holy books and see if the FBI will investigate.
What a misuse of federal enforcement manpower.

Can we or can we not desecrate any damned thing we want as long as it is our property?

When you go to a book store and buy a koran it becomes your personal property. If you then destroy it that is your perrogative.

Leaving it on other people's property to be found is nothing but littering.

I confess. Take me away. Two years ago I tested an air rifle by shooting a Cabela's catalog.

You should be ashamed. That's a HORRIBLE thing to do to your poor dog. I've forwarded your post to PETA with an appropriate recommendation.

Just like Animal Farm, the pigs are more equal than the rest of us.

Pigs? Pigs?! I suspect Animal Farm is verboten by the Islamofascists.

no one from the local Muslim community had complained

The video is protected by the First Amendment. The actual leaving of the defaced book at a local mosque could possibly qualify as a crime, but certainly only a very local crime and thus no justification for FBI involvement, and if nobody at the mosque wants to make an issue of it then local law enforcement certainly shouldn't get involved either. Why is the FBI taking orders from CAIR?

This is a crime? I can't shoot books if I want to? Does the same go for cans?

I can see how we'd regard it as a crime if a bunch of local Muslim punks shot up a Bible and dumped it off in a church. It could reasonably be taken as a threat of violence, and there would arguably be a trespassing issue as well. But if no one at the church lodged a formal complaint with authorities, I certainly wouldn't expect any investigation by any local or federal agency.

CAIR: Caring About Islam Regardless.

We can't get the gov to take care of illegals, potholes or voter fraud, but by God, let CAIR shake it's little finger, and the gov's all over it.

Prosecuting bad taste in hair and clothes is a little over the top, don't you think???
