McKinney Fails To Show Up At Two Debates Tue Jul 11 2006 11:10:09 ET

Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D) failed to appear at two televised debates over the weekend, fueling criticism from two opponents who are challenging the controversial incumbent in a July 18 primary in the Georgia's 4th District.

CONGRESSIONAL QUARTERLY reports: DeKalb County Commissioner Hank Johnson and architectural firm project manager John Coyne, who are challenging McKinney, debated Saturday on WSB-TV and also participated in a second debate Friday that was sponsored by the Atlanta Press Club and which will air tonight at 7 p.m. Johnson's campaign said that McKinney's absence was a "slap in the face" to her constituents.

You know, this is just about her hairdo and because she is black woman.....

END SARCASM HERE

Please keep it up McKinney, you nut job. I want your disgraceful presence removed from Congress. Given your political record, you need to be sweeping the parking lot at the Varsity in Atlanta rather than representing the Great State of Georgia.

Amazing, isn't it? If you or I punched a Capitol police officer (or drove a car into a barricade while under the influence), we'd never be heard from again.

Did anyone look for her outside?

She was probably going the best of three rounds with the security staff.

Not necessarily. This is a primary. I remember reporters interviewing some folks who had voted for her in the past and they wouldn't necessarily vote for her in the future--depended on what dems ran against her.

According to Wikipedia:
"District 4 is a strongly Democratic district; the winner of the Democratic primary is likely to win the general election. McKinney faces a strong challenge from Johnson, a significant figure in DeKalb county politics. McKinney may be adversely affected by her recent controversial actions, including her alleged assault of a police officer."

Sad but true. I moved last year - less than a mile away because I love my neighborhood. But now I'm 200 yards over the line into Gwinnett County and out of McKinney's district and away from a school board run by morons.

I couldn't be happier.
