Barbados second in blind cricket tournament
Sunday, 09 July 2006
Barbados had to settle for the runners-up position, as Jamaica captured the first ever West Indies Blind Cricket championship.

Barbados was defeated by five wickets at the Carlton ground today.

Winning the toss Jamaica sent Barbados in to bat, and they set a target of 197 for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 35 overs.

Jamaica in reply made light work of the target finishing with a score of 196 for five off 27.1 overs.

They finished the tournament unbeaten.

Elroy Johnson with 54 not out captured the player-of-the-match title, while the player of the series was Ulric Andrews of Trinidad and Tobago.

This is absolutely astonishing...I would never have thought that it would be possible for totally blind people to do something like this. In the video it looks as though they are having no problems at all.

Just amazing!

If you received this message please respond to this post. I've received a couple of FR mails asking to be put on this list by posters already on the list, so I just want to see if anyone is actually receiving any pings.
