President George W. Bush on Monday said if Chechen rebel leader Shamil Basayev was killed, "he deserved it."
Russian officials said Basayev, who claimed responsibility for the bloody Beslan school siege in 2004, was killed in an operation by special forces.
"If he is in fact the person who ordered the killing of children in Beslan, he deserved it," Bush said.
U.S. authorities were still gathering details on whether it was Basayev who was killed, he said.
June Allyson died. Loved her in White Christmas.
ROFLOL!
Some people just need killing.
MSM: "Tell us what you really think, Mr. President. We can't publish that."
Its so good to have an adult in the White House again... No matter what things I disagree with Bush on... its just so good to see an adult in the White House.... after 8 years of the frat house clinton joke I had almost forgotten what an adult in the White House looked like.
I read part of an after action report from Beslan. Some of those soldiers literally stood in doorways to block gunfire with their bodies so a few more children could escape. Heroism knows no borders.
I was born/raised in MI, left about the time you were born. Still a Tigers Fan!!!
According to ABC, it was Russian journalist Andrey Babitsky, who interviewed Shamil Basayev at the end of July in Chechnya. Babitsky was heading to Chechnya to have an interview with another Chechen terrorist, Doku Umarov. It took the journalist two weeks to wait for the terrorist to appear, but Babitsky was eventually introduced to Shamil Basayev. The reporter spent two days with Basayev. However, it is impossible to determine the date, when the interview was made: Basayev said nothing about post-Beslan events in it.
The Russian embassy in the USA protested against the airing of the interview before it was broadcast. ABC said that Nightline offered the Russian government a possibility to participate in this or future television programs. The offer was rejected. ABC acknowledged that the interview with Shamil Basayev would produce one of the largest scandals during the 25 years of Nightline's history.
"Where have all the cowboys gone?" and I mean that respectfully.
Not that is awesome and awe-inspiring.
Cowboy diplomacy lives at least one more day.
Amen!
God Bless President Bush.
The People's Front of Judea?
BTW...just being frivolous in a serious thread.
When I read the bastard was dead, it brought a broad smile to my face. One less piece of human waste on the face of the globe.
Or, as one of my favorite quotes from a movie, uttered by Robert Duvall in "Open Range":
"Good health to them that has it comin'."
That's absolutely exceptional. If I'd been told (as a Marine in the Eighties) that I'd be today raising a glass in heartfelt tribute to Russian soldiers, I'd never have believed it.
God bless them.
The link to the report was posted here at FR. I've been digging but I can't find it.
I'd very much like to read it if you find it.
