The Abortionists and death lovers have pushed embryonic stem cell funding, under the guise of performing all sorts of miracle cures.
This flies in the face of the scientific facts, which has shown that adult stem cells show great promise but that, so far at least, embryonic stem cells are completely useless.
But even if they could cure people, there is something fundamentally sickening about killing one human being to "help" another. This violates fundamental moral teachings of any religion worthy of the name: Christianity, Judaism, and even Islam. It also violates the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness enshrined in our constitution.
Regretably, the government does not forbid such research, they only forbid funding it with taxpayer dollars. If there were anything of value in this research, the research companies could fund it themselves. They just want a free feed at the taxpayer trough and, most of all, another excuse for aborting babies.
Those fiscal or libertarian conservatives who don't care about the right to life should understand that their own causes have no chance at all if they don't work with the social and religious conservatives on these basic issues.
Evidently Rove now understands the importance of doing this.
" If there were anything of value in this research, the research companies could fund it themselves"
Exactly how many companies do you know of which are willing to do research which may lead to a product in 30 to 40 years? A 10 to 20 year timeframe for the investment to pay back is about the most any company will ever consider. 30 to 40? Get real.
This is a moral argument and a moral argument only. Arguing that there is no promise in ESC research based on lack of private funding is ludicrous. How many private companies provided funding for adult stem cell research in the 1960s?
