President Bush will likely cast the first veto of his presidency if the Senate, as expected, passes legislation to expand federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research, White House aide Karl Rove said today.
"The president is emphatic about this," Rove said in a meeting with the editorial board of The Denver Post.
The U.S. House of Representatives has already passed the legislation, co-sponsored by Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Denver, and Rep. Mike Castle, R-Del. If the Senate approves the bill this month it would go to the president's desk.

Just doing the jobs ordinary Americans won't.

Man, you are aptly named. The fringe left of course where my money is considered your money. But definitely aptly named.
Are there any other pet projects you would like to steal my money for?

The REAL issue is LIFE......
We have a pro-LIFE President.
This is one of many 'Snowflake Babies'...........real human beings saved from real death as embryos.
It matters.

Typically, 21st century therapies don't work the first time.
That is why there is a call for research.
To: jveritas
Wonderful post. Bush has been very clear in his position that embryos are humans too and he has not changed. I am grateful we have a man in the White House who supports protection of human life from the very beginning of life.
To: Prodn2000
The 'call for research' should never involve the ending of life.
Especially when it is completely unnecessary.
The productive research is ongoing, and it doesn't require a death sentence for an innocent child.

Xacly. I'll tell you, I never expected my own party to tool me like these guys are. You expect that from Democrats but not conservatives...oh...theres the problem. These Rino elites that control the party suffer from the same liberal strain that thinks they can outthink the people.

I thought these were embryos that were going to be destroyed anyway.
There is nothing pro-life about that.
To: Prodn2000
Wrong.
You have been sadly misinformed (by the media, I presume).
Look at the baby in post #88. A LIFE saved, and not used for research.
Inform yourself before claiming that the issue is not about life.

They've been experimenting on mice embryonic stem cells for nearly 30 years now, that is a fact
You are terribly misinformed as to the facts if you think scientists isolated mice embryonic stem cells almost 30 years ago.
