I love architecture. This is what I think of when I think of Detroit -

I was an undergrad at UM in A2 in the early 70s. We'd go into Detroit for concerts; I saw everyone from Alice Cooper to ZZ Top. I had a few friends who still lived in the city, but most of those who said they were from Detroit were actually from families that had recently escaped to the burbs.
It's sad to see how far Detroit has fallen.

I used to skip class at Wayne SU to run around Detroit, taking pictures. You can't take a bad picture in the city. Troubling, haunting, even nightmarish, but never bad. The architecture is stunning, even majestic, in spite of the city crumbling down.

This is what I think of when I think of Detroit - http://www.forgottendetroit.com/index.htmlRadiohead, actually, almost every building on that list has been renovated, is under renovation or has been demoed. For all of Detroit's problems, downtown isn't one of them. It's booming.
