Detroit, Michigan is a City in which all elements of political power is controlled by Democrats. It is absolute control as far back as I can remember.
State wide elected Democrats, including Governor Granholm, do absolutely nothing to provide reform to the citizens of Detroit.
Detroit schools send more kids to prison and the welfare rolls than they do to college.

That it does, i was there at the airport but was too scared to venture into the city lol.
Those 21 ARE the racists that are ruining everything there. Go to www.detroityes.com/index.html and see what is left of a beautiful city after the dumbocrappers defecated on it.
"Another reason to buy a Toyota"
The last American car factory left Detroit long ago. Nothing to do with Toyota.
Agreed. Do you know the name of the guy that is the political boss at Detroit Metro? He's suppose to be mobbed up and really running the democratic party in Wayne County. Granholm owes her job to him as well.
I gotta tell you, I read those pop statistics as progress.
"Q Theres an abandoned building on my street. What should I do to have it demolished?"
A Wait until Hell Night and burn it down like everyone else. "Hell Night" is another fine product of Detroit.
Radiohead, actually, almost every building on that list has been renovated, is under renovation or has been demoed. For all of Detroit's problems, downtown isn't one of them. It's booming.
If you're referring to the Detroit City Counsel, there are 9 members, two of whom are white. And that's only because Maryanne Mahaffey retired. She would have been easily re-elected as council president.
Fritz, please see my response to Radiohead. You can cheer up.
If people haven't figured that out about him by now...
Do you have any linkable sources on $/student-year spent on education in the Detroit schools? I'd love to rub someone's nose in them.
Nope, sorry. The facts I stated earlier were from a letter from Jack Brandenburg.
Washington, but for the Seattle area, is a red state.
Amazing how the dems get 200,000+ more votes with population figures like this.
It's easy, actually: illegal immigrants, multiple ballot-takers, and dead people all tend to vote Democrat.

How soon before Lansing or some other MI city passes Detroit in population I wonder?
It has to have moved well out of the top 10 by size in the US.
((Agreed. Do you know the name of the guy that is the political boss at Detroit Metro? He's suppose to be mobbed up and really running the democratic party in Wayne County. Granholm owes her job to him as well.))
You may be thinking of Edward McNamara. He was the former county executive of Wayne County, and was a Dem. He died a few months back, when I happened to be there on business. The current governor was formerly an attorney on his staff with the county. The new terminal at the Detroit airport (very nice, btw) is named after him.
Lansing has a population of about 117,000. Grand Rapids is the second largest city in MI at 195,000 (both figures - 2004 est). So - Detroit still has the largest population by far in the state. In 1950, Detroit was the 5th largest city in the US. Today, it is 11th.
