Kayden Dorman BARBARA DAVIDSON/DMN Body piercer Kayden Dorman disagrees with the Arlington school district's new dress code: "If they're allowing people to wear earrings, they should allow them to wear bigger earrings."
Karrick Senegar says rapping and grills go together like cars and tires.
That's why the 16-year-old aspiring rapper and Arlington student spent $200 in April on the mouth jewelry known as a grill. But the Sam Houston High School junior won't be able to flash his six-tooth white-gold diamond-cut grill around campus come August.
The Arlington school district has changed its dress code to ban the trendy mouth jewelry. Also added to the unacceptable list are tall tees oversized shirts that hang to the knees and the practice of stretching out earlobes, sometimes called gauging.

Is it the "Miserable Failure" search or the removal of some conservative news sources that Google called "hate speech" that makes it less than a wonderful thing?
As a search engine, it is more comprehensive than Ask.com, Yahoo! or MSN search. I refuse to boycott a good source of information over such minor incidents, but I support your right to.
Maybe the next generation truly sees things different. My stepdaughter just married a guy who is lovely. He's a very nice guy...HOWEVER, he has tattoos ALL OVER the upper part of his body...front, back, both arm...He's talking about getting more.. I have to be honest, I think less of him because of it...I probably shouldn't but I do.
i have 12 tattoos and 5 piercings- including earrings gaged to 6ga. i haven't had any problems getting, or keeping a job.
Well, we were all dumb and arrogant as teenagers. I think I've grown out of the stupid things now and am a productive adult. I don't climb up the sides of University towers any more. :)
I think less of him because of it...I probably shouldn't but I do.
Of course you think less of him. His judgement is poor.

Picture a '49 Buick grille in place of your teeth.
left or right ear?
Yeah, but what is attractive on an old saggy body? It's not like you're going to look much better without the tattoos
I guess I'm just too old also. I don't know why, but body piercing, aside from earrings, just kind of makes me sick. Particularly bad is seeing it on food service workers. It just looks nasty, I mean it looks as if they are unclean. I can just visualize "stuff" dripping out around the studs etc. Can't handle it.
I own a cleaning business and I wouldn't hire one of these freak to clean the toilets.
If only they knew how ridiculous they look.
Rap is to society what rust is to iron. Anything having to with it is not edifying, IMHO.
are you going to had you car keys to this clown?

I'm not
Yeah, and I frequently see OLD men out here with 2 pierced ears, and long gray pony tails. Weird....
susie
This isn't about What is "proper" for school, I think it's about the future of these kids. What these kids fail to understand is that first impressions go a long way. What they think is an expression of their individuality (piercings, tattoos, wierd hair styles, ect) may keep them from getting the job they may want. I know that if I have a choice between hiring a kid who projects a conservative image, and a kid that looks like he went bobbing for apples in a tackle box, I'm going to hire the normal looking kid first.
