Prayer Request: FReeper MamaB's husband passed away yesterday
MamaB via FReemail | 7/9/06

Posted on 07/09/2006 11:53:07 AM PDT by Wolfstar

TO ALL, long-time FReeper, MamaB, sent me the following tragic news, and asked me to start a prayer thread. So I post this in loving memory of Mr. MamaB, and in hopes it will provide some measure of comfort to his wife and family now suffering through his loss.

I just wanted to let you know that my hubby died last night at 7:30. We are all heartbroken. Will you start a thread for me and I will give more details when we get back from the funeral home. Have to be there at 11.

Thanks for the update, hoosierpearl. Too bad I'm in Los Angeles, or I'd go to the funeral.

This piece is one of my favorite works and has a strong, powerful message even if you replace Author and God with life and goodness for those who might pass it by out of a misplaced sense of sophistication.

All humanity is of one life, and is one volume; when one dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated; goodness employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice; but goodness's hand is in every translation, and its hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again for that library where every book shall lie open to one another.

Of course, Donne was a devout man and most devout men are lovers of humanity; what we risk today by denouncing tradition in pursuit of a single scientific truth is humanity itself.

May Mama B find blessed comfort in the warm words of her distant friends here where humanity remains despite the petty bickering.

This song means a lot to me, and I hope it will to you,
the friends and family of Mr.MamaB, as well.

Steven Curtis Chapman - With Hope

This is not at all how
We thought it was supposed to be
We had so many plans for you
We had so many dreams
And now you've gone away
And left us with the memories of your smile
And nothing we can say
And nothing we can do
Can take away the pain
The pain of losing you, but...

We can cry with hope
We can say goodbye with hope
'Cause we know our goodbye is not the end, oh no
And we can grieve with hope
'Cause we believe with hope
(There's a place by God's grace)
There's a place where we'll see your face again
We'll see your face again

And never have I known
Anything so hard to understand
And never have I questioned more
The wisdom of God's plan
But through the cloud of tears
I see the Father's smile and say well done
And I imagine you
Where you wanted most to be
Seeing all your dreams come true
'Cause now you're home
And now you're free, and...

We have this hope as an anchor
'Cause we believe that everything
God promised us is true, so...

We wait with hope
And we ache with hope
We hold on with hope
We let go with hope

Oh, MamaB, I'm so sorry. Words fail me.

I'll pray for you and your family as you go through the following days. The shock, the suddenness - I'm so sorry.

Your statement about Jan was so very real. Several people told us that they felt her presence a lot in that hospital room. I have had dreams the past 2 nights and in each one, Janice and her daddy were walking hand in hand in a meadow. I just know they are together.

Something else I do not remember if I said anything about but I told some of the relatives in the hospital that I was so thankful that Jan had gone on before because losing her daddy and his having to worry about leaving her would have been too much. Something odd happened at 3 different places yesterday morning. I opened the front door to listen to our daughter's car and there was a beautiful red bird sitting on the porch rail. The others said the same thing. I had not seen any this whole year and to have seen it on that morning was encouraging.

Thanks for the prayers.

So sorry to hear of your loss. It is difficult when someone we love cannot be there, but memories that are made and shared, will keep a loved one near. God with loving wisdom, will be there to guide you through; He'll help you meet tomorrow and give you strength anew.
