MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Undersecretary of State R. Nicholas Burns; Robert Galluci, dean of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service; New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson.

LATE EDITION (CNN) : Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.; Burns; Iraqi Ambassador Samir Al Sumaidaie; former Secretary of State Alexander Haig and former national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski.
I personally DON'T like this information coming out...but it seems all secrets are going to come out.
Jamie Colby reported it on Fox News...and she had a former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia on to talk about it (Saudi Arabia?)...and HE was the one that talked about the chem weapon program thwarted...
She didn't say who they got the information from..but, she questioned the Amb. if it is a problem for Bolton, NOW at the UN..that he was one of the architects of this secret coalition...and AMB. speculated it wouldn't be a problem.
Later in the show...she said that South Korea has told Japan "not to make a big deal" over the missle testing that went on last week....sigh
This email to a local talk show host, commenting on fights that took over 30 minutes to quell, and yet were not reported in the next day's newspaper {because it might reflect badly on the Mayor of Baltimore, who is the paper's candidate for governor) is what I was thinking of when I wrote "government schools". The problem is of course much broader than that, and does start with the parents.
The entire letter is well worth reading, but I only wanted to beg the indulgence of readers of this thread so far.

The 4th of July "scuffle"
Friday, July 07, 2006 - an Email from James in West Virginia
Bruce,
As an outsider, I probably have a more objective eye to the events surrounding the evening and night of July fourth. I have no political axe to grind, nor do I have any complaints concerning that region.
I did not see the riot first hand, however, I was sitting/standing next to the temporary fence the police had erected around their mobile command center on top of the hill (the hill with the large, black cannon pointed out over the harbor) that was densely packed with people who had come to see the fireworks.--snip--
After what seemed to be 30 45 minutes (in the excitement, I lost track of time), my friend and I began walking down the hill thinking, surely, it has to be over now. The police were back in their command center vehicle and things seemed to calm.
It was the scariest 10 blocks of my life.
Walking back through the harbor was very tense. I seriously felt like I was in gangland. There were mobs of loud, exited teens everywhere. At this point, I think my friend and I were two of the four non-black people still in the area. And the, it seemed thousands, of kids that made up this unruly mob, were not content to stand and talk, they were walking from spot to spot, groups stopping, talking, moving, loud, intense, and possessing a total disregard for authority; police were standing, walking, some with night sticks in hand, most with their hands on their side arms.
My friend and I got in front of mounted police that were, out of necessity, herding the crowd from the area. It was welcome relief. We finally made it to my car and drove out of Baltimore.
One small moment - when I was walking past two officers and caught the last part of a sentence one of them said, and I quote,
these god-damn kids. In just those words, his tone went from recognition (these), to anger (cursing), to resignation or more likely regret (kids); his tone dropping in just these four words from sharp and direct to soft and sympathetic. I laughed at first and then realized the painful effect it must have on the police of this city to watch the youth that they are sworn to serve and protect, get forgotten because no one will address the issue out of fear of being labeled a racist.
Did I "label" in this response to your show. Sure. But it is necessary to get politicians and those that run your school system off their asses. If parents are not able or willing to demand that their children respect authority, then society must.
Right now, Baltimore city officials, police, school teachers, are doing an extreme disservice to a very large group of inner city kids just because they are black. The problem is not going away, will not solve itself, yet you choose to pass it to the next generation and, in doing so, a generation of inner city black children is lost.
Mayor O'Malley, school officials, law makers, you should be ashamed because every single one of these rioting kids, at birth, had the exact same amount of potential to lose as you.
One last thing that I would like to clarify about what I have said, Bruce, is that given the same environment, a black child is no more likely than a white child to become a criminal. Speaking specifically of this area, since parents are not able to instill the respect of authority and of other people in their children, it is imperative, if the city is serious about saving these black children, that it makes its public school system mimic, as closely as possible, military schools or academies that teach school-aged children.
Keep the teachers, but add 40 50 year old, cranky, retired non-commissioned officers to the classroom with complete authority over behavior. These retirees are tough as nails, they're not intimidated, and they're consistent, strict and fair.
Personally, I think it is disgusting for the Mayor, law makers, and school officials to do nothing just because these kids are black. That is racist.
Bruce, I could have called in, but there is no way I could have communicated this verbally. Well that, and it is easier to delete a word typed than retract a word spoken.

No I didn't, but I will now...thanks to you.
I appreciate that.
I used to listen to Hugh a LOT..but now, in my area they have on John Gibson on at the same time...and after watching the Senate all day...and listening to so many talking heads....Gibson makes me laugh..so I forget to tune to Hugh.
We darn well better have our military at full strength over there for sustained air and naval combat...

Lots of ships have headed across the Pacific in the past few months.
Stunning that she can get away with it, isn't it?
NO..and that was my point on the thread about Hoekstra's letter that was here yesterday..
I ranted against what was IN the letter...but then pointed out to PETEY...that it is the fact that the letter "leaked"..that keeps Bush from telling everything.
He is like Specter...he has his little feelings hurt..and hates the Bush chose Hayden over his objections...and hates Negroponte for not being nicer to Goss.
We need to send these papers a message, cancel your subscriptions to the LA Times, nyt or these papers are going to get us killed.
He minced no words.
Okay...well, then it was only a surprise to me...LOL
I guess I wasn't connecting the two...
I am sorry if I overreacted to that report...but lately, with all of the leaks..and the tension with North Korea..I was sure it was something still covert..
I feel better now..thanks.
Our joint humanitarian exchanges have already sent a team of North Korean heart doctors to New Mexico to learn the latest cardiac surgery techniques.

And for their cultural amusement we will take them, and their companions on a tour of Los Alamos.
You are right now that I think about it. Mad maddie has a Dubai client. Not sure if it was the Ports matter tho.
Yep, I ditto that.
#328, that sounds like a possibility, but I have every confidence that the White House is keeping very good track of all this. If they are not (yeah right), I hope they read the Sunday Thread.
#330, just oh WoW!
Rational minds simply could not state this sort of intellectual incoherence!

Who does it remind you of?
but they do not realize that GWB is not Clinton, and has lots of tricks up his sleeve and is very unpredictable except for the fact that he has a good won-loss record and is a good to excellent rope-a-doper.
