No doubt the Unitarian Church was sympathetic to left wing politics. I seem to recall that in that sect, Jesus Christ is not considered the Son of God, thus could it be called Christian? Any church that is not Christian need fear repercussions by way of loss of tax free status it would seem, because of left wing politics as you say.

This says it all: Unitarian Universalist "Church"
That was my thought also. Unitarian I have heard of, not with Universalist tacked on. My guess would be its pretty much one of those believe what you want, do what you want, there are no absolutes kind of "church"
