I think her husband ought to have been charged. He was supposedly sane, yet was a partner in her getting pregnant again (which obviously wasn't a good idea) and left an obviously disturbed woman alone with 5 small children.

He knew she had emotional/mental problems, yet left her alone with those children? He's responsible.
