Lt. Dan Band featuring Gary Sinise - Special Engagement
Saturday, July 22
8:00 pm Parade Field

We are pleased to announce a concert performance by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band to benefit our Troops! The concert will be held on the grounds of Cantigny at 8 pm on July 22, 2006. Actor, director, producer, and star of the highly rated CSI:NY, (Wednesdays, 9 pm CST on CBS), Gary Sinise is a dedicated supporter of the USO.

He is the recipient of many awards including the 2004 Above and Beyond Patriot Award from the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum for his contributions to the morale and welfare of men and women in the U.S. Military. The "Lt. Dan Band," is named after the character he portrayed in his Oscar-nominated performance in "Forrest Gump."

They have performed for troops stationed over seas, as well as numerous military bases in the U.S. The Lt. Dan Band covers everything from Springsteen to Linkin Park, from Aretha to Hendrix. There's something for everyone, and each show highlights the musical diversity of the band, as well as the passion and energy each member brings to the stage.

All proceeds from the concert will benefit Illinois' efforts to support our troops and our returning veterans. The concert will be lawn seating. Ticket prices are $20 in advance, $25 at the gate. A $5 discount will be given at gate with active military I.D. Tickets will go on sale April 15, 2006. Please contact www.osotil.org or call 1-800-594-TIXX (8499) for ticket information.

Cantingy Park is located in Wheaton IL and is also the home of the 1st Division Museum. It's worth getting there early and checking out.

Directions can be found at the link.

We heard them here in LA last summer. Nice cover band and they do so much in supporting the troops.

I saw an interview where Sinise said that he carries the Lt. Dan dog tags from "Forrest Gump" and many of the troops on the USO tour want to see them. He said many of them call out to him "Lt. Dan". He loves it.

Great work by all in the Band and USO.

I hear the band is pretty good.

Happy to do it SR.

I've got to remember which Freepers I know are from IL, so I can ping them.

It should be a good show and a trip to the 1st Army Division Museum is always worth it. The grounds at Cantigny are absolutely stunning this time of year.

It should be a great time in a lovely park.

I always though Gary Sinise was a phenomenal actor and irrespective of his politics, of which I have no knowledge one way or another, he is a good guy for his support of our troops (and easy on the eyes like Mrs. Lurker says, especially in Apollo 13).

I think Andy Garcia is also a very good actor and a good guy (for his personal stance and as director and producer of a film on the real story of the Cuban revolution) and very, very easy on my eyes…..sigh!

If the future Mrs. ABG likes Gary Sinise, he's okay in my book. I always liked him, especially in 'Apollo 13'.
