To All The Divas Of The Canteen
Kittens & Butterflies
With our eyes slowly turning from azure blue to golden green
Mother thought it was time for us to see and be seen
Though a Debutante's Ball would have more than done the trick
Mother opted to secret us in the Pretty One's basket for picnics
Where we hid on the long walk from the House
Curled up around each other more quiet than a Mouse
Sneaking out silently as the basket finally settled on the ground
Only to stop and sit and marvel as the wondrous sights all around
Small round flowers and leaves of every shape and size
Moved lightly with the breeze before our eyes
That swirled the most tempting and delicious of perfumes
So much more delightful and intriguing than the House of Rooms!
Finally! A place where we could get dirt on our paws and not be immaculately clean
Touching and tasting so many varieties of the color our Humans call "Green"
Taking in as much as we can from this new and glorious scene
Yet the thing that most caught our attention and kept us Mesmerized
Were these two tiny bugs with pretty wings that our Humans call "Butterflies"
None of us where they had come from or where they were going
The fun is just to watch them dance around in the air without knowing
How or why they stay so gracefully off the ground
Though between three curious Kittens, theories are sure to abound
Trading ideas and secrets without making a sound
Watching and learning as the time goes by with haste
Making us all the more anxious to return to this Special Place!
