Crazy Kim Jong II of North Korea and Rick Warren Working Together For What Purpose?
Christian Worldview Network ^ | 7-04-2006 | Ingrid Schlueter

Posted on 07/07/2006 12:59:52 PM PDT by The Lumster

While North Korea was gearing up to launch a long range missile and five rockets into the Sea of Japan this week, sending a grim message to the entire world, out at Saddleback Church Rick Warren was announcing that he will soon be bringing his message of purpose to North Korea where he reportedly will be addressing an audience of 15,000.

“God is using Rick Warren to be a messenger of peace!” gushed one Saddleback member. There is great hope in Lake Forest that Rick Warren's message in that stadium will cause Kim Jong II to drop his nuclear purposes and embrace some kinder, gentler ones.

But who exactly will be sitting in that stadium when Mr. Warren steps up to the podium? Given the level of government induced starvation in that country, the average North Korean would be lucky to have the strength to walk to the stadium to hear him in the first place.

Another Warren-bashfest?

No thanks.

I’ve never seen him give any of the glory to Christ.

Maybe you need to get out more.

From PDL, Chapter one, the first two paragraphs...

It's not about you.

The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your own happiness. It's far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose.

And further on...You discover your identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ...

So, there's that.

We don't need a therapist, we need a Saviour.

I agree with you there. And that's why I've said many times before that I think PDL is okay for a starting point (for some, maybe not all), but it doesn't go very deep.

I just think some folks spend too much time criticizing Warren because it's easy to do from the comfort of their own desk chair. Doing more would require getting up and getting out.

That doesn't apply to everyone here. But it does to quite a few.

Slander? Hardly. All you need to do is research for "resister" at Warren's own Pastors.com site. Read the book, "The Purpose Driven Church" by Warren, where he tells pastors and leaders how to push the resisters out.

Read "Who's Driving the Purpose Driven Church?" by James Sundquist. Read any of the columns by Paul Proctor, easily found by a google search.

The big question is, who picks the official translator?

My guess is that everytime Warren says "God" it will be translated "Kim Jong Il". And everytime he says "heaven" it will be translated "the North Korean Communist Paradise".

"And what horror if everyone in the congregation prays at once!"

I Corithians 14 tells it like it is.

Well .. if God told Rick Warren to do this .. then who are you to judge it's the wrong thing.

It might be the wrong thing for YOU to do - but maybe it's not the wrong thing for Rick.

More power to him. I will be praying for his safety.

"further"? Shouldn't have to send out a search party to find the Lord. Jesus should be front & center. So how much "further" does one have to go to find out about man's sinful nature, the need for repentence, the cross, the blood of Jesus & hell?

That was "further on in the chapter" and those were MY words.

Sorry. I'll use English next time.

There is no doubt that Warren has evidence that he's done more for the kingdom than most.

So far as N. Korea is concerned, they don't do anything without a propaganda purpose. Warren should have been more circumspect, and he still should be careful.

You missed the point. Jesus shouldn't be in there somewhere. Christ should be the focus. Period. At the beginning of the book, the end & in between.

I read the bible once.... Jesus doesn't even show up till the second half. :~)

And I don't remember 'go forth and nitpick' being anywhere in it :~) But then, I'm not the scholar some of the itchiest nitpickers are...

The Pharisees here are always out in force whenever ANY minister they don't personally approve of is in the news. Jesus would have spit them out of His mouth---and I don't mean the ministers!

Exactly! These armchair Christians like to sit in their comfy chairs at home and condemn any preacher who is out there in the trenches taking the Gospel to the lost. They assume there is an ulterior motive to EVERYTHING they do. Rick Warren started out in the trenches, and that's something they're never done.

There are going to be some mighty surprised people in the afterlife when crowns are handed out. Again, I don't particularly always subscribe to Rick Warren---or many other---minister's specific theology, but it's always best to let God deal with anyone you think is a false prophet, because if he is, he will take himself down, and if he's not, you (not you personally) will never take him down.

Amen! My question to all of them is this: When was the last time you put on a pair of Levis and took to the streets to preach the Gospel to the lost and hurting street people? Or when was the last time that you went to another country, or even another city/state, to organize and speak at a large crusade? I've done it all, and I know how hard it is. I would be willing to bet that not ONE of the ones who are the most critical of Warren have EVER done it. We are commanded to do just that, but even if they don't want to do that, they should pray for those who are out there because the attacks that they come under is tremendous! I know this because I've been on the Board of Directors for an Evangelist for 12 years and I've seen Christians; at their very worst. I've heard things said and I've seen things done by Christians that would shock everyone.

When I first started traveling with the Crusades, I've stood there with my mouth wide open, at a loss for words, more than once. I'm not very often short of words either. LOL I've been attacked verbally on more than one occasion because they have controlling spirits and they don't want to support anything they can't control. The biggest problem that we deal with all the time is the spirit of jealousy, and I've seen terrible things happen to those who tried to stop the Word of God from going forth. I can tell you that it's NOT for the weak, because you really get beat up when you are actively serving the Lord. I could tell you things that happened to us that would shock everyone. Satan uses Christians to come against us, and they don't even realize that he's using them. We've done what we are commanded to do, and all that's left is to pray for them. The 'Good News' is that at the end of the day, God has, and will continue to use the willing to go forth and take the Gospel to the lost. :o)

Agreed, but remember the old Soviets thought the same way---people who do not understand Him and His message often think they are advancing their own puposes by letting in His ministers. But, heck, even a few of the Old Testament heathen autocrats had enough sense not to touch a man of God!
