One of the reasons that the DoD may have sat on the captured IIS files without translating or releasing them, some speculate, was that the contents may embarrass some of our allies in the overall war on terror. One document released yesterday seems to support that analysis. According to document CMPC-2003-000878, the Russians gave more active support to Saddam prior to the March 2003 invasion than previously known -- and they used Syria as a conduit for their materiel:

We have room for russian sympathizers here - but the article is quoting verbatim from the translated document.
Your buddies need to cover their tracks better. Why the worry? That folks will catch on that Russia's is a self-interested double-talking government? Big woop.

Our dear friends in Russia, France and Germany were providing Saddam with weapons and assistance forbidden by the embargo that they signed.
To Hell with all three of them.

You really think in the end, France will side with China and Russia? Apparently Soccer Rules in the rest of the World. If France wins the cup, they will do whatever it takes to keep their star players. Perhaps in the end that will cause them to capitulate to the religion of their star Islamic Algerian players. We Americans simply do not understand the International mindset :>

The words "friends" and "Russia" are pretty much exclusive things based on American history. We did consider them allies in WWII. Mainly because the Nazi's appeared much worse at the time. The problem now is Russia is losing 700,000 people every year (death and emigration). Near the end the Chekists could start getting as desperate as North Korea.

At the core, isn't it all about hot chicks?

Exactamundo...basically the alpha and omega of existence in a nutshell, and even Stephen Hawking would agree.
When you think of the best things about Russia, name the top five things that come to mind...and bingo, you get hot chicks for 1-4 with Vodka being number 5.

I think this is good analysis, but have to say that at this point, I'm not sure what the benefit is of trying to remain friendly to Russia and not embarrass them. They certainly aren't supporting us with the North Korea issue and I hope a little "friendly" blackmail is going on and if they refuse to support us in that matter, all other bets are off the table.

A lot of this is rehash we had waded through a few months back when Joseph start posting the translations, such as the one on the Russian agents being in the capital as those glories Abram tanks rolled in, the partial US war plans for the invasion, where they Russians lead them to believe that a main thrust would come in from Jordan border, etc..
Bottom line as most of FR now understand, the Iraqi and Russians had a tight military/diplomatic relationship for a long time. It would be ludicrouse to think they where not going to help the butcher prior to the invasion.
Some fifty four Russians transports flying out of Saddam International and many bases just prior to the invasion, and all the truck convoys into Syria just will not go away.
And screw the frigen Russians. They have not been our friends since 1917. I dare have someone prove otherwise. Uncle Joe thought FDR was simply a usefull idiot.
