What is similar about the Jesuit and Dominican Orders?

Well, they were both founded by Spaniards, St. Dominic for the Dominicans, and St. Ignatius of Loyola for the Jesuits. They were also both founded to combat heresy: the Dominicans to fight the Albigensians, and the Jesuits to fight the Protestants.

Speaking of which - There was this fellow that was thinking about saying a novena with the intention of getting a Lexus. But having doubts about whether that would be an appropriate thing to ask for in a novena, he asked a Dominican priest for guidance. The priest answered: "Ah yes, a novena, a wonderful prayer. But what, pray tell, is a Lexus?" So he asked a Jesuit priest, who responded: "Ah yes, a Lexus; reliable, stylish, a well built car. But what, pray tell, is a novena?"
