A sharp wit, scholar's discipline...and a pleasure to see.
I wonder, though, if she's genetic Marfan's?? Body just like my wife, who also has the condition.
I think this is all a publicity stunt to sell the plagarism-detecting software mentioned in the E&P article.
From what I've seen the charges are pretty thin on the face of them. One was not plagerism, and the other was the topic from a list, which I'm not sure deserves crediting.
So there is no prejudice against Christians and MM is the same as Ann. How far up your A$$ is your head? Are you lost? This aint DU.
I see you are already gone. You libs just can't hide who you are.
That's what caught my attention.
Mis-attribution or missing attribution are neither of them plagiarism if it is clear that the ideas of others are being described.
That Ann would not have any completely original pro-abortion ideas is hardly surprising.
OHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!She plagiarized her own writing, her own columns, her own original thought....How could she do this????????Obviously, the libs want her barred from ever writing another piece of material again........[So,she can't steal her own work.Remember, libs are here to help not hurt]Just like the nazis helped the jews to a better place!!!!!!
Check here and here too for the examples.
Hat tip BTW to FReeper and anti-Coulter-type Right Wing Professor...although I think many of the examples given in the sources above are too pedantic and/or childish for his normal standards. The overwhelming majority of the plagiarized "examples" are one- or two-sentence factoids which would be hard to convey succinctly except by coming close to the original language anyway.
(Full Disclosure: many of his own substantive comments on problems with Ann's science in Godless are as accurate as a laser-guided missle, with the detonation of a Trident...check his own blog, or Darwin Central for details. Darwin Central's comment about the starfish eyes was especially choice...and it brought to mind the Halibut which I just ate while vacationing in Alaska.)
Cheers!
Was the Chronicle passage from her own column? (Hope so, though I somehow doubt she has a column in the Chronicle...)
There's little excuse for being sloppy with attributions. That said, I'm sure that few of her sources will object to just an addendum in future editions.
RWP appears to have been banned or suspended, so thanks for pointing out his blog. I've found his comments mostly interesting and insightful over the years, so I hope I'm wrong about his being gone. RWPs atheism is a magnet for the religious radicals who seem to have a lot of influence on setting the 'tone' at FR in the past couple of years.
Gack.
You are not. RWP is gone.
BFD
Whoop-dee-dee!
I never said it was OK. The point was I've yet to see a single liberal condemn Churchill, Tribe, Franken or Biden.
I don't condone plagiarism by anyone. But the left is hypocritical for attacking Coulter while giving the above mentioned libs a pass.
Never mind that a leftist scumbag can scrawl a 100% fact free book and they take all of it as gospel.
You are deliberately underplaying the extent of her obvious plagiarism. I happen to know for a fact that she also plagiarized rush Limbaugh's first book there were over 200 instances of ann using commas in her book 12 years after rush Limbaugh did! Its just so blatant that I see no other recourse except for her publishing company to issue a full refund to everyone that bought godless and ban anne from ever typing another word for a book or column again (i really hope the readers of fr are sophisticated enough that i don't need to add a sarcasm tag
Tell you what, just based upon a quick read of both sources I have to say I'm not about to call this plagiarism. This isn't passing someone else's work off as your own. What she MIGHT (and I emphasize, MIGHT) have done is see these passages or lists or works and utilize the facts in them, changing the language of the lists or works to her own.
That is not plagiarism. You can't plagiarize facts.
If she had issues with word-for-word copying, and the copying was purely fictional or opinion writing, I might have concerns. But this is like MLB saying that the newspapers can't publish box scores without paying them royalties. They're hyperextending copyright, and here, the folks who want to claim plagiarism are hyperextending the concept. Students who use encyclopedias or Cliff Notes' summaries to help prepare research papers, but change the wording to reflect their own work, retaining the facts, would have problems under this uberanal definition.
Now, I'm all for busting her if she did copy line-by-line and it was NOT a situation where she was merely stating facts. But so far, what I've seen doesn't show that.
Yes, 25 words!!
The following is 25 words:
CEO of iParadigms, told The Post that one 25-word passage from the "Godless" chapter titled "The Holiest Sacrament: Abortion" appears to have been lifted
25 words usually is not even a sentence.
This is ludicrous.
Here is your smoking gun.
_____

_______
What a joke. How can one plagarize a list?
Is she supposed to change the diseases treated and source of stem cells?
Exactly. Well said.
many of his own substantive comments on problems with Ann's science in Godless are as accurate as a laser-guided missle
Now you are in the realm of self deception/delusion.
