Retroactive tax changes caused a small collapse in real estate back in the 80's, leading to the S&L crisis. I believe that recent expansions of government property control - through eminent domain, zoning laws, and spiraling property taxes are creating a situation where property values may collapse suddenly, and to no more than a few hundred dollars an acre. Let the chips fall where they may.
