I guess there isnt much of an outcry because the Surgeon Generals office is considered a joke anyway by most people.

Remember back in the day when Koop was the SG and his pal David Kessler?  They were brought to trial but refuse to tell the truth about smoking.  They pleaded the 5th and therefore, didn't have to testify.  What a couple of liars THOSE two were.

Koop went on to declare bankruptcy.  Not sure what happened to old David.
