Despite widespread unhappiness with the Republicans, it is hard to envision a majority party run by Howard Dean, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

My God, that's a nightmare!

And then there's Iraq. The recent killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and the establishment of a complete Iraqi democratic Cabinet will not ensure a quick victory, as we see from the recent slaughter of American captive soldiers. But both events still weaken the liberal clamor that the American effort at birthing democracy is doomed in Iraq.

Let's make it a two-fer and get bin Laden too!

Well, the dems had intended upon shouting "culture of corruption"...except that it appears at least as many democrats are guilty of corruption as republicans...so all they're showing themselves to be by that shout is that they are hypocrites as well as corrupt.

Don't forget that the "culture of corruption" was pretty much DOA even before the William Jefferson freezer fiasco.

All that being said, if the Republicans don't come up with a viable candidate pretty soon there won't be much of a race.

The way I see it now is, all the Democrat have to do is show up. They have the desire to win at any cost.

And besides all that, 2 million Vietnam veterans realize that Democrats are the enemy of freedom.

The DemonRATS won't win because they are the Party of Free Stuff. Their hardcore followers are so thoroughly committed to the Free Stuff doctrine that even the tiny amount of work involved in getting their lazy butts down to the polls is just too much work for most of them. It compromises the purity of the idea.

Remember, Conservatives vote on Tuesdays.

Even if the Dems take one or two elections, they won't retain power for any length of time. They have painted themselves into too many no-win situations. For example, if they win and cut-and-run (with some other euphemism, of course) in Iraq, they have to hope for good results from that act. Obviously, it won't go well, and they will be clearly responsible. On the other hand, if they don't cut-and-run, then they lose their base and show themselves to be hypocrites.

Same thing with immigration: If they close the borders, they're hypocrites and lose their base. If they don't, then they raise taxes (and likely expand benefits) and get voted out by the undecideds and the moderate Left (yes, it does exist. Look at NJ right now... the Dems are torn apart by a 1% increase.)

Another example: Missile defense - use it and they look stupid for always opposing it. Don't use it, and get blamed for diong nothing the next time some tinpot dictator makes a play for attention and concessions.
