Six launches including Taepodong-2 were confirmed...the additional launches were being investigated
It is possible that N. Korea launched six additional launches of short-range and shore-to-ship missiles, in addition to six launches of Taepodong-2, Nodong, and Scud surface-to-surface missiles, during dawn and morning hours of July 5th.
Senior government sources said, "The confirmed launches so far by N. Koreans are one Taepodong launch and five launches of Nodong and Scud missiles, totaling six. However, we have indications that, between 7am and 8:13am, six additional missiles are launched, which we are trying to confirm." These additional missiles are likely to be 'Seersucker' shore-to-ship missiles (range: 100~120km) and Scuds(range: 300~500km.)
The (S. Korean) government officially announced (this morning) that, on July 5th, at 5am, N. Korea launched Taepodong-2 missile at Taepodong, Hwa-dae County, N. Hamkyong Province, and, starting at 3:32am, several Scud and Nodong missiles at Kitaeryong, Anbyun County, Kangwon Province.
Intelligence agencies determined that Taepodong-2 blew up mid-air over East Sea, 40 seconds after its launch, turning the test into a failure.

MOSCOW, July 5 (Reuters)
Well, don't sweat the count. Just because the 'reporting' is confusing doesn't mean our military is unaware of just how many missiles were launched. Remember, first reports almost always get changed later. The guys who actually need to know the true number, probably already do.
You missed the point entirely. I stand by my comment. In my world, it's all about the N. Korean perception -- which has little or nothing to do with reality.
We have only recently learned details of the early soviet space program.
By the way, I meant that they didn't get past the multi-stage handoff on this missile model. Sheesh, you're all about the personal attack opportunities so much that you don't cut anybody any slack. Try and remember who the enemies of the US are... and it sure as heck ain't me.
I couldn't say just how many might be involved and so I'm not sure just who you might be thinking about. I have always wondered where the patriots in the DoD were when oversight was switched from them to the DoC. Where were the generals ready to fall on the sword for love of country? What were they thinking in the Pentagon? Were they just too absorbed with empowering radical Muslims in Kosovo to care?
Oddly enough Tim Russert seemed to be the only person in the whole world who was upset about it. I know Rush talked about it but I don't recall outrage. I figured Russert finally dropped it because he was beginning to look insane for the simple reason that he was alone in decrying it and no one responded to him. But perhaps he was dissuaded in a more direct way.???
Of course you may have been expecting some sort of outrage from Pubbie pols at the time!?! Well they were drooling at the prospect of giving China MFN status. They practically knocked Dems over in the aisles to get their votes recorded. The same Country Club Pubbies are now working on how to get around the electorates will to bring in 100 million Mexican and Latin American mud-job workers in the next 20 years.
Those are my immediate thoughts on who allowed Clinton to commit the most egregious act of treason in, possibly, all of human history and why.
Russert was the only one upset about the following: --- when oversight was switched from DoD to the DoC.??
That's odd.
Our local talkshow host (Quinn@warroom.com) was all over this story when it was happening. (His show is on XM radio and on the net.)
He's still talking about that mysterious hole in Ron Brown's head.
Not exactly. He was POd when it became known that the deal was done; arms tech for campaign money. I don't recall whether the oversight change was public knowledge before that. ???

I have heard of him, through FR, but not heard him. I was thinking primarily of the MSM I guess. Rush is national enough to make something common knowledge if he says enough about it. I wasn't considering local or internet sources. Thankfully they're both far more powerful now than they were in the '90s.
