I'm surprised that UPS lets their employed run for political office.

There's probably a law saying you can't fire a guy for campaingning.

Doh! "campaingning." Can't fire him for campaigning either.

Too bad that same law doesn't apply to gov't employees.

> Well, maybe Kos will write him a ringing endorsement.

He's going to need a lot more than $10K and a nod from Moulitsas.

"The number of state voters registered with the Green Party more than doubled in the past five years, though the war-hating, tree-loving group still lags far behind most political parties in popularity, according to Board of Elections data.

"Green leaders attribute anger over the war in Iraq for their party's ballooning membership - there are currently 36,141 registered Green voters compared with 17,992 in 2001.
[...]
"By comparison, there are 5.4 million Democrats and 3.1 million Republicans in the state. NY Daily News

Actually, Fed employees cannot run for partisan offices (the senators and congress excepted). They also cannot raise money for partisan stuff.

They can do things like chair municipal committees.

Oh, this is a high-functioning candidate by Green party standards. He has no chance. Even the media isn't going to complain when he's left out of debates, for example, or otherwise ignored.

He makes Hillary! and even Chuckie look reasonable.

You think he'll pull in five percent in the general?

Go Howie Go! Hillary is a damn Jesse Helms clone. ALL progressive minded anti-war Democrats have only one choice: vote for YOU. Yes, my friend, we must split the Democrat because Hillary is UNACCEPTABLE to Democrat activists everywhere.

(Freepers should donate $$$ to this nutcase. The only chance we have of electing a conservative Senator in NY is to split the RAT majority among two candidates)

NY is a little goofy because you have to get a certain percentage of the vote to stay as an official party on the ballot. For that reason, the minor ideological parties often endorse the major party candidates in order to have their followers pull the "liberal lever for Spitzer". Spitzer gets the vote as if it were a Dem vote, but the Liberal party gets to stay on the ballot for 4 years.

Or something like that, don't hold me to details.

Anyway, by putting up this guy, the Greens run the risk of going off the ballot and having to get petitions to get their way back on.

Given that all of the non-left would be lucky to get 40% in this race (very lucky), the left may feel free to vote for a Greenie.

Still, I figure 3% tops.

I suppose if you were a wacked-out screaming lunatic commie pinko red, you could consider Hillary a conservative.
