Green candidate for Senate: Clinton too conservative
Newsday ^ | 7/3/06 | MICHAEL GORMLEY/AP

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate Howie Hawkins on Monday urged progressive Democrats to declare independence from Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton because she has ignored liberal causes to prop up the military and corporate America.

"Expecting the Democrats to end the Iraq war is like expecting crack addicts to turn in their dealers," said Hawkins, 53, of Syracuse. "I think she's always been a corporate candidate."

Hawkins, a soft-spoken UPS Inc. loading dock worker, pitched his three top issues in a news conference: Withdrawal from Iraq; expanding Medicare into universal health care instead of depending on more costly HMOs; and greater use of alternative, clean fuels while depending less on foreign oil.

"Why do Democrats not come out against Bush's war?" said Hawkins, 53, of Syracuse. He answered: Because military spending has been extended to every congressional district and every incumbent gets corporate campaign contributions that perpetuate the cycle.

No you idiot, Hitlery is only out for herself, and she is going to destroy your life and possibly worse.

Hillary is only out for herself. Nothing conservative about her.

Well well well..are we perhaps seeing an incursion of the far left that will significantly influence elections?

Well, just what does Hillary do? Does she disavow the far left, losing their votes, or, does she embrace them, and scare away the center/left?

Thanks. Let's see if this clown wants to expose the real scandal. It appears that Spencer will not.

Yeah, this guy better watch out before he has a sudden urge to commit suicide by shooting himself multiple times in the back of the head...

I would not be surprised if it turned out that the Green party of NY were bankrolled by the Democrats.

The easiest way to look sane is to surround yourself with the insane.

I'm certain the MSM will always give lots of attention to accusations Hillary is pro-war, or pro-business. How clever of them!! I mean, it's it such a sneaky, back door way to make her seem more appealing to voters who would fault her for being too liberal, and voters who wouldn't trust her to defend the country.

"Nothing conservative about her."

Is the left really that stupid or is this a deliberate disinfo campaign by the left to try to fool the right? Nah...the left really is that stupid.

This guy isnt big enough to even break into a sweat over.
Hillary wont even bother to admit he is there. He can ony do her good by being so far left he makes Hillary look Middle of the line.

A simpleton.

I don't know about that. Senator Reid, Durbin and Boxer come to mind. Along with Rep. McKinney, Pelosi and Wexler.

Just how insane does the left have to be to make the above look moderate?

I like it. The best slogan of the year.

A 53-year-old loading dock "worker", no less. Not even a supervisor, at least it doesn't say.

I would think that a company might get sued for not permitting employees to run for office on their own time -- spokespeople and executives exempted, of course.

He might get a memo from the company directing him not to mention UPS, but he can't stop the press from doing so.

If that's the best the Green Party has to offer in NY, Hillary doesn't a worry in the least.
