They're just lashing out the day before our Independence (from British tyranny) Day. Just sour grapes. They'll get over it.

Not all Brits view America in negative ways.

I think we know this really but thank you for stating it. My father flew from an air base there during WW2 and had nothing but good things to say about most of the Brits. There were some who did not like the cocky attitude of our pilots stationed there but they didn't like some of their own either. :o)

The world seems to be run by the media these days in their efforts to make negative news for the good guys.

"People are going to bitch no matter what. Any Brit will whine about how we sat out the war until Pearl Harbor, and now they whine that we are trying to protect democracy overseas."

I always found that assertion by the Brits to be comical considering they had a signed treaty with France and Poland that if any one of them was attacked the other two would immediately wage war on Germany.

Well Germany attacked Poland and it took Britain and France three days to declare war and then they sat on the border and did absolutely nothing for 10 months (which was known as "the phony war" at the time) until the Germans themselves attacked and defeated France in a matter of weeks.

Meanwhile America had no such treaty. The criticism is a joke on the face of it.

"Since that majority of Britons has never been to the United States and its members know very few Americans personally, one might ask the British press where this remarkably bad impression came from. They know what they've been told - so who's telling it to them?"

The scoundrels at the BBC.

Britons have never had such a low opinion of the leadership of the United States, a YouGov poll shows.

How awful. That means I'll thrash around for 2 or 3 seconds tonight before I can fall asleep.

Britian has become a nation of cowering pansies. Shame on them.

I am changing it to three Britons have never had such low opinion of the leadership of the U.S. and guess what? I don't care about the three.

Most Britons see America as a cruel, vulgar, arrogant society, riven by class and racism, crime-ridden, obsessed with money and led by an incompetent hypocrite.

Yes, does seem to be a very accurate discription of, say........Ted Kennedy, the Clintons, John Kerry, Jesse Jackson........... the list could go on almost forever................

If that's the case, most Britons don't have a clue about the values of the common American.

... more media tripe.

Looks like the MSM has had considerable success here. It's goal is to drive a wedge between allies. They work for al Qaeda, among others.

These British obviously don't know what's going on or how much we've accomplished in Iraq and they haven't talked to their grandparents who knew us personally in WWII.

G.W.Bush may not be the most idealistic President we've seen but he's a huge improvement over the Sleazebag Demon from Dogpatch and his wife, Jezebel.

Funny, isn't it, that just as their former colonies are celebrating their independence from the cruel, vulgar and arrogant British Empire, the Wogs decide to express two hundred plus years of growing empire envy by sniffing at the American Empire. The Brits are still sore losers, suffering from their shrunken self-image: a once-great nation now reduced to sidekick and overrun by the Asian/Arabic population they once ruled.

Pathetic.

"American troops are failing either to win "hearts and minds" in Iraq or bring democracy to that country."
That's incorrect and isn't even a debatable point.

"More than two-thirds who offered an opinion said America is essentially an imperial power seeking world domination."
What country have we ever colonized?  Humorous statement coming from a country that colonized half the planet.

"And 81 per cent of those who took a view said President George W Bush hypocritically championed democracy as a cover for the pursuit of American self-interests."
I wonder if these people can name one President, Prime Minister, Premier, King etc. that hasn't taken an oath to pursue the self interests of their country. Last time I looked around Britain was in Iraq with it's army, and as I recall it was Britons that drew the new boundaries of Mesopotamia with a magic marker while sipping brandy in their favorite pub and called it Iraq.

The "cruel, vulgar, arrogant” cousins across the pond saved the Brits from Hitler's deadly onslaught during World War Two and certainly helped them reclaim that little island from Argentina in 1982. It certainly is the cruel, vulgar and arrogant press in Britain that hates the damn yanks. It has something to do with the fact that the some in the British media miss their communist friends since the collapse of the USSR. If only the US wasn't always mucking about the world, messing things up.

The real "imperial power seeking world domination" is islam. Its power is that of millions of hostile parasites, and Britain continues to submit to it.

And the real hypocrites are those who champion multiculturalism and "tolerance" to destroy their own cultures and countries.

I'd be willing to bet that most Britons never even saw this poll.
