"damn, what the hell happened to james webb?"

Well he decided he wants to get into the US Senate, and there was simply no way he was going to get the Republican nomination.
So he made a bargain with the devil.
The RATS said to him : The only way you goin' become our candidate is to spew out BDS hate, so that's what he preceded to do.
Nothing new there.
He will still lose.
BDS never won anyone nuthin'.
Just ask Hanoi John Kerry.

Looks like Mr. Webb has spent a little too much time in Hollywood. I wonder if Meathead is giving him money. Good find.

Thanks for your insight Defiant.

My theory is that everyone sees the US as the only superpower in the world and thus assume that this war against fascism is somehow a war against a 'little people' an 'unsophisticated people' and that somehow we had a hand on creating the very monster that wants us all dead. These people presume that the WOT is a manufactured war so the US can solidify and assure its sole superpower status for centuries to come. Hence the juvenile conspiracy theories among the elites in our society. What was once relegated to a fringe subset of our culture now occupies front and center of most political discourse today.

The truth is that Webb and his likeminded ilk have assumed a posture of war against an idiological foe that fitted inside our perceived western sensibilities. But Islamofasism isn't communism. We are dealing with a far different animal here. It is not rooted in western idiology but traces it's philosophical pillars on a continuing struggle against all non muslim ideas and philosophies for over 1300 years, I would argue that the struggle against communism over the last century was simply a hiccup on th temporal plane of history when compared to the struggle against Islam.

Although it is true that no standing army can defeat the US. The truth is that they don't have to. The US is shackled in their ability to wage war. They have an adversarial media that confuses executive responsibilities mandated by the constitution with a supposed government with imberial ambitions to satisfy a constituency of wealthy oilmen in Texas. This quote from Eisenhower just crystallizes my sentiments:

'May we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion.'

~Dwight D. Eisenhower

Perhaps the NY Times and other like minded media so concerned with our civil liberties (yet unable to define the true enemy when it's at the gate) would reflect on this point.

Webb and other like him unfortunately forgot the lessons of history.

Webb seems to be calling for "an early and honorable" exit from Iraq so we can prepare for an attack on Beijing. Hope "Bomb China Now" becomes the centerpiece of his tinfoil-hat campaign.

He continued, "We need to bring the Iraq war to an early and honorable end. We need to begin bringing our troops home soon, as the first step toward a complete military pullout from that country.

Does he imagine that the President isn't trying to figure out a way to get our military home as soon as he believes it is possible? Whatta maroon.

How do we send a message to Webb?

I once thought a lot of James Webb, bought and read his books, Fields Of Fire, Born Fighting, etc., they're great, but I cannot believe he went left and sold out to the Dem's. I can't believe we have these "X Marines" Webb, Mertha, and the guy in Ohio that was running for Senate/Congress selling out to the left. They are not among us Marines who believe what it means to be "Semper fi". They have joined the "Wesley Clark military". What is hardest to believe is these guys served in Nam, and felt the sting of the anti-war crowd, the John Kerry's, the left wing media and the rest of the Democrat Party as so many of us. They are traders all. So Freepers, let's send Webb a message. Send a contributions to George Allen for Senate big time! Someone, please, just tell me where do I donate to Allen for Senate and I'll send the biggest check I can.

Semper fi,
Silver fox

Playing politics with the war for political gain. Webb has lost any respect I had for him.

The dems know what the President's plan is: they stand up, we stand down. So, as we all know the Iraqi's are standing up and taking over more of their own space. The dems are just postulating so that they can take credit as our troops start coming home. I think most american's see right through this....afterall, the democrat cut and run plan is being portrayed as the answer by the MSM. BUT, the MSM did itself great damage by standing behind the treason of the NYTimes, and americans will grow more and more disgusted as they recognize that the democrats/media (they are one and the same) are working as hard as they can to lose the war.

" Send a contributions to George Allen for Senate big time!"

Good idea.
But Allen will clobber this Webb anyways.
Still won't hurt to contribute too Allen's campaign.

Hmmm...Is this the same loyal Jim Webb, who worked for / with Ollie North in Ronald W. Reagan's White House? ....if so, He's really gone-off the deep end.

He switched to the Democrats because they are giving him a shot at the senate.

He's a psychotic megalomaniac slipping into dementia.

Prototypical rat senate canidate material.

McInsane could very well be next.

At one point in time, Oliver North was accused of crimes against his country. He was indicted on sixteen counts and was convicted of three. He admitted that he had lied before Congress. The convictions were later overturned on 4th and 16th amendment concerns.

The same can not be said for Webb.

The left is still running around with straight faces saying Iraq has nothing to do with the WOT.

The Administration doesn't seem to be interested in calling them on it either.

I guess Saddam was not a terrorist and Iraq was not a terrorist state until we went in.

At least thats what the DNC is saying

Democrat Socialists Radio Address- July 1, 2006:

We need this kind of leadership today. I'm running for the Senate in the hope that I might bring a fresh voice, and an experienced set of eyes, onto the problems of our country. We need to redirect the efforts of our national security posture.

We need to bring the Iraq War to an early and honorable end. We need to begin bringing troops home soon, as the first step toward a complete military pullout from that country. We must do this in order to free up our dedicated military people to fight the war we need to win – the war against international terrorism - and so that we can have the mobility to confront the other strategic challenges, such as the threat of an emerging China.

If I am elected, I will work toward those goals. And those who are serving our country will have no greater friend.

I'm Jim Webb, from Virginia. Thanks for listening.

That the DNC could still be claiming that Iraq is not part of the WOT is a stunning testament to the utter incompetent and pathetic performance ot the White House PR machine.

Imagine, this senile old fool is going to run his campaign on a lie, that the WOT has nothing to do with Iraq, free from any fear that his insane stance will cost him.

Its time for the RNC to start turning this around and make an example of maniacs like Webb.

They can start by asking him what he thinks Ronald Reagan would have done.

The guy really has snapped.

I remember him ripping on Mike Dukacis and explaining why he was not qualified to be president.

He needs help, its to bad no one cares about the fact that this guy isn't the same person he was years ago.

Even his mannerisms are totally weird and have changed alot.

At one point in time, Oliver North was accused of crimes against his country. He was indicted on sixteen counts and was convicted of three. He admitted that he had lied before Congress. The convictions were later overturned on 4th and 16th amendment concerns.

At the worst point in Norths life, no one could question his patriotism, his dedication, and his belief in what he felt was right and wrong.

Webb, as much as he has always hated North, has changed, I think he needs help, far from his change in politics, has been his change in every other part of life and how he behaves.

At some point, something went wrong, for god sakes, in the democratic primary, he couldn't even explain why he believed in what he was claiming to believe, he sounded like he lost his memory and showed signs of having mental health problems.

He also has strange memory lapses, and bad recall, the guy needs help, not a public campaign where he embarrasses himself.

He's another Kerry.

We need to leave Iraq so we can fight International terrorism...WTF? That's his plan? I guess if he was around in 42' his strategy to defeat Hitler was to pull our troops out of Europe. Retreating is not a strategy for success.
