I think you're right. People usually have a distinct sytle of expressing themselves. There might also be a telltale misspelled word, or a unique way of punctuating.

We might be able to "out" some trolls if we watch for the clues.
This whole issue is very interesting! It's always amazing to me how people will spend so much time trying to do something dishonest (whether it's committing a crime or something like this) whereas if they'd put their energy and intelligence to GOOD use they could do something "good", or at least positive, and honest.

It's certainly possible, although it would be difficult. I just think it's useful for the good folks here to keep it in the back of their minds that some degree of this kind of thing is going on.
Elections show time and time again that many of the most angry sorts that infest political websites are actually a very small percentage of voters. They seem to have a huge voice here because, frankly, the entire active FR population is relatively small.
