9/11 widows and words that offend (Ann Coulter Once Again)
Star Newspapers - Chicago ^ | Sunday, July 2, 2006 | Michael Bowers

Posted on 07/02/2006 8:05:41 AM PDT by Chi-townChief

OK, she's mean, evil, vile, a witch. Get it all out. Dump on Ann Coulter. I'm not going to get in the way of this bandwagon, just like I wouldn't get in the way of a truck.

But once the Angry Lefties have exhausted their rage, I'd like to know if any would consider the possibility that one time too many they have played the card marked "suffering victim reviles Bush."

Consider the comments that set off the current tempest:

1) "These self-obsessed women seem genuinely unaware that 9/11 was an attack on our nation and acted like the terrorist attack only happened to them. They believe the entire country was required to marinate in their exquisite personal agony. Apparently, denouncing Bush was part of the closure process."

My verdict: Fair comment.

2) "These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzis."

My verdict: Fair comment, but this is starting to make me uncomfortable.

3) "I have never seen people enjoying their husband's death so much."

My verdict: Baffling. Coulter had to know that once she wrote the word "enjoying," her essential message would be lost in the uproar. Why didn't she write "exploiting"? It would have made her point just as well.

4) "And by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy."

My verdict: Just stupid.

"I have never seen people enjoying their husband's death so much."

I have! I have friends who's husbands have died and that's all they talk about. They treated them like hell and now 'saint' never leaves their mouth. No matter what the conversation is at the time, they never fail to cut in with "poor Marvin" and how wonderful he was.Everyone knows what bitches they were with the poor guys. These women thrive on attention and talking about 'the dead' gives them uninterrupted audience. They love it!

Jersey Girls are enjoying their husbands death. Could this statement be taken as an offense?

Yes.

But, do they enjoy? Is it true?

Yes.
It takes a huge "outrage" not to see that the husbands' death gives JG what nothing else can for the excitement: a visibility and a shield for their political actions.

I'm so amused Lefties like Michael Bowers get hung up over word plays and then dismiss Ann Coulter as stupid. They don't get what she really says cause they're too full of hate and rage to understand. Extreme statements are usually of a satirical nature. Nothing in new in that but the Left takes everything said on the Right literally. The funny thing is the same people so quick to take offense are the same people who go about offending others on a daily basis. As it turns out, the irony of that conduct is lost upon them too.

(The Palestinian terrorist regime is the crisis and Israel's fist is the answer.)

Kristin Breitweiser, chief of the four, says: "We simply wanted to know why our husbands were killed. Why they went to work one day and didn't come back."

And this involves being flown around the country for free, staying in nice hotels for free, and being treated like celebrities by people that most of us wouldn't be caught dead with? If Kristin's statements had an iota of truth, she'd be writing congressmen and meeting with government officials instead of being wined and dined by DNC underlings and giving speeches in front of recruited audiences that ooh and ahh over every word of hate for their country.

Grief stricken liberals like the haughty four deal with their overwhelming pain by going to "A" list parties in Washington DC and New York, drinking Crystal and Dom, cackling about how evil George Bush is.

They make weekly appearances on the leftwing talk show circuit, adorn in their Donatellas, Laurens and Versaces, smiling and giggling, UNTIL of course they get the cue to play the ultimate VICTIMS of 911 and blame the evil wicked BUSH for their husbands deaths.

These four women, like their "COMMON FOLK" ally, Cindy Sheehan are female PIMPS for the DNC.

Nothing more, but maybe a lot less!!

I can't think of any current writer who has been critized for THE WORDS they used other than Ann Coulter. It's bizarre.

I think 'enjoying' was the right word. 'Exploiting' has the connotation that they are trying to obtain as much financial recompense as possible. But they are doing more than that. Right after 9/11, they started courting the limelight, appearing on TV and making other appearances all over the country, as frequently as they could. There is an unseemly aspect to their activities - and there is no reason for seeking the limelight so much unless they really do enjoy it.

I question how much grief they are really feeling - doesn't real grief have a more private aspect to it?

4) "And by the way, how do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they'd better hurry up and appear in Playboy."

My verdict: Just stupid.

But Laz takes it one step further, still:

"Not only that, but how do we know that these women weren't actually complicit in their husbands' deaths? Isn't it even remotely possible that one -- or all of them -- were secretly conspiring with Al Qaeda? What if they wanted their husbands dead, and found the perfect group to git-r-done?"

Laz shoots for over-the-top. HE SCORES!

Michael Bowers has missed the point, as have most journalists who have written about Ann Coulter's book.

If any of them had written the book instead of Ann, they would have been careful not to offend when they were attempting to make their point about the 9/11 widows. However, the way Ann wrote her book was guaranteed to stir up discussion concerning the points she made. The cries of indignation coming from the liberal left in newspaper articles, TV interviews, and talk radio deploring Ann's language have caused more people to become aware of the "Victim" strategy used by the liberal left to attack the right than would have ever resulted if Ann had used less inflammatory language.

I get the impression that Sheehan has always been a little goofy; I've never seen her come across as "all there."

While Ann Coulter's point was dead-on, she did choose her words poorly.

Choosing of the words were right on. Look at the results, it got the Jersey Girls exposed for what they are. And sure put the lefties in a real tail spin.

Another thing, maybe it will silence these women and put a damper on them since the main purpose of the RAT party was to find more to rant on just before the November election. If they try, we should kick it back like Ann did.

Somehow, I don't believe Mr. Bowers is all that much of a lefty:

'For instance, Kristin Breitweiser, chief of the four, says: "We simply wanted to know why our husbands were killed. Why they went to work one day and didn't come back."
She also likes to say: "Three thousand people were murdered on George Bush's watch."
Gee, Kristin, most of the rest of the world seems to have figured out by now why your husband didn't come home. He was murdered by foaming-at-the-mouth Islamists who want to conquer the world; turn women into property; and execute Jews, homosexuals and teenage girls who have sex.
If Mrs. Breitweiser has come across this notion, she has steadfastly ignored it, because she would rather blame Bush. As if Osama had never thought of attacking America until the 2000 election."'

Of course Sheehan is goofy, she's a braindead lib. You still cannot say that she does not enjoy the death of her son.

You could give her some slack at first but now it is beyond grief it is adulation. She enjoys the celebrity that her son's death has given her, same as the widders.

The Jersey Girls were just 9/11's "Cindy Sheehan"...

There a prototype political tool the left has standardize on

For simpletons, being invited to the A-list cocktail parties, staying in nice hotels, and being showered with gifts cures a lot of woes. These people are sick.

Boo hoo, Ann offended somebody. The liberal media, government liberals, and the kool-aid-drinker voters that support them are more offensive than a normal person can stomach.

OK, it nice that Michael Bowers's logical mind can grasp the suability of Coutler's comments. But how does he feel about the New York Times aiding the enemy?
