New Jersey National Guard officials say they are prepared to send as many as 650 troops to back up border patrols along the US-Mexico border.....because the Pentagon has guaranteed to cover the cost of the deployment..........The troops will be volunteers, going on the mission in lieu of annual training. Gov Corzine must sign a formal agreement before any troops deploy.
Despite an end-of-the-month deadline to have 2,500 troops along the Mexican border, only 483 were in position Friday working with the U.S. Border Patrol.....according to the National Guard Bureau, an arm of the Pentagon. ......more than 2,000 others were somewhere inside the four southwestern border states, training or helping plan the deployment.
Bush had said the mission would free up Border Patrol officers now on other duties. Guardsmen will build fences, conduct surveillance and take care of other Border Patrol administrative duties.
All New Jersey guardsmen will serve in New Mexico...."New Jersey is one of the states that has stepped up to the plate and we appreciate it," said Tom Koch, spokesman for the New Mexico Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.

This is a farce. Deploying weekend warriors across the country for such a brief period of time is not cost effective at all. Hiring the local Merry Maids would make more sense.
The Administration is really beginning to look foolish in this wet-noodle, red-herring stab at "making the border more secure". Yeah.

On another thread a FReeper familiar with mexico's oil fields said in 2004 that the illegals are coming to "rape and pillage" they still are coming to rape and pillage this country and it's citizens.
The border has been open for years and the problem of illegals invading this country has been ignored if not encouraged. The fact that not all illegals are "good hard working people coming to get a job" appears to escape Congress and the open-border advocates. There are criminals or worse already here and more flooding in and still no one is getting serious about securing the border, no fence going up, 650 NG may not be able to stop the invasion.
I beleive today is the day Mexico elects a new leader, Fox was bad enough but who knows if there will be a Chavez-like leader elected as a neighbor and still our borders aren't secure. Still the cheap labor is allowed to invade and stay and yet we who see the dangers are being called names.
All in the name of cheap labor, while the "cheap labor" is costing every taxpaying citizen a fortune. We taxpayers are not Warren Buffet and we don't have billions to "give away" for the illegal cheap labor to invade, stay and thrive.
The following briefly explains why illegals creep across the desert and perpetuate the lie about taking so-called "low-pay jobs Americans won't do."
The US taxpayer is subsidizing their every need 24/7, morn til night: Using multiple phony SS #'s, forged documents, and multiple IDs the invaders collect multiple $4500-$5400 EICs from the IRS by declaring several names/jobs - just by going $1 over the income limit. They also line up for EINs, ITINs, Child Tax Credit, Additional Child Tax Credit, welfare and food stamps.
US Taxpayers are subsidizing invaders' daily food intake, housing, reduced mortgages, free medical care, free education, reduced in-state tuition and out of state tuition. We also foot the legal bills when they start suing if we don't provide these goodies pronto......etc., etc, ad infinitum, ad nauseaum.
The 423 pp monstrosity Senate bill (secretly written in El Presidente Vicente Fox's hacienda assisted by reconquista groups) provides that invaders will be paid a prevailing wage, Earned Income Tax credits, medical benefits; housing benefits; WIC; anchor baby citizenship; legal representation and amnesty from back taxes owed.
The Senate atrocity does not meet Constitutional muster b/c Vicente, and the reconquistas could care less about the US Constitution. They want only to get their greedy hands on the US treasury and to take over the US government with the vote, or by violence, if necessary (their own words and signage at the recent protests).
All of this explains while they will do anything, pay anything, endure anything, to get over the border to the US to get low-paying labor. They have dollar signs dancing in their criminal heads......
.....and billions of it goes back to Mexico where El Presidente Vicente (and whoever gets elected) gets a nice chunk of it---and so do the federales in Central and South American banana republics who help their compadres cross the border.

I would add that Mexico is a satrap ruled by a despotic government-of-the-wealthy that tosses citizens it considers useless over the US border, to become wards of American taxpayers, and the US welfare system. Now they demand veto power over US immigration policy. And some in our own Congress are prepared to ignore the US Constitution and have signed on to the Mexican agenda. Americans are defending our citizenship from those who would devalue it, who are dragging our country down into anarchy.

I would only add that legal and illegal immigrants love cash businesses for obvious reasons. Taxi, bodega, corner store, restaurants, gas stations, auto repair and more. They love them due to the latitude for tax evasion.

In my continuing research on retiring to Mexico I found an interesting passage in one book.....Seems that wealthy
MEXICANS are starting to resent the growing number of
US retirees moving down there. Why? Because we Americans have such good hearts, we're paying domestic help up to twice what wealthy Mexicans pay....from $1.50 per hour for a maid or gardener----to a whopping $3.00!!! The wealthy Mexican elite can no longer get maids or gardeners for anything less than $3.00 per hour and THEY ARE ANGRY AT US! When my wife and I finally make it down there....I think I'll pay $4.00 per hour....Revenge will be sooooo sweet!!!!!!!!
That's too bad they resent US retirees. Gives 'em a hint how we feel having to subsidize their castoff population.
My girlfriend's husband was asked if he wanted to volunteer to go down to the border. He has already completed his two weeks of summer training and is with the Guard stationed out of McGuire Air Force Base, air refueling unit. I don't know if he will, since he is employed by an Army subcontractor working at Pickattany Arsenal here in NW NJ.
