Think the immigration debate is mainly about giving amnesty to the 10 million illegals already here? Think again. Amnesty is a drop in the bucket. The real issue is the staggering increase in legal immigration hidden in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, recently passed in the Senate. By a ratio of about 4-1, U.S. voters would prefer less immigration, not more. But the Senate bill would do just the opposite. The original bill would have allowed as many as 100 million people to legally immigrate to the United States over the next 20 years. We're talking about a seismic shift of unprecedented proportions.
Facing criticism, the Senate has amended the bill - which now would allow "only" 61 million new immigrants. That still more than doubles the current legal immigration rate, from 1 million a year now to 2.5 million.
Current law would let 19 million legal immigrants enter the United States over the next 20 years; the Senate immigration bill would add an extra 42 million.
Why such extraordinary growth? Consider how the new law would work.
Under the Senate bill, immigrants could enter or attain lawful status within the country through nine channels. In each channel, immigrants would gain permanent residence and the right to become citizens:

Even if the senate bill is stopped, the numbers of illegals crossing our borders is staggering. Who needs a senate bill when our current administration allows this travesty to continue.
Nice you have feelings. Too bad for you feelings are not facts.
You say 60 million is 60% of Mexico's entire population. Try more like 30%. Illegal immigration is not subjected to Mexicans alone. Have you added up the numbers of Central and South Americans?
ROFL!! Ain't that the truth!
If you're getting your information here on FR, you're not too far gone. I am referring to the rest who watch the MSM for their disinformation.

Facts like your 200 million illegal Mexican post claim in # 7?
NY Times | 6/7/2005 | EDUARDO PORTER
Gerardo Luviano is looking for somebody to rent his Social Security number. Mr. Luviano, 39, obtained legal residence in the United States almost 20 years ago. But these days, back in Mexico....he is looking for an illegal immigrant in the United States to use it for him - providing a little cash along the way. "My brother in California has a friend who has crops and has people that need one."
Mr. Luviano's pending transaction is merely a blip in a shadowy yet vibrant underground market....undetected by American authorities, operating below the radar in immigrant communities from coast to coast, a secondary trade in identities has emerged straddling both sides of the Mexico-United States border.
Illegal immigrant workers usually earn so little they are owed an income tax refund...........The illegal immigrant "working the number" will usually pay the real owner by sharing the tax refund. Since legal American residents can lose their green cards if they stay outside the country too long, it is useful to have somebody working under their identity north of the border.
"Sometimes the one who is working doesn't mind giving all the refund, he just wants to work," said Fernando Rosales, who runs a shop preparing income taxes in the immigrant-rich enclave of Huntington Park, Calif.
The income tax "refund" is almost certainly generated by Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) fraud, which as a "legal resident" the number renter would qualify to receive, especially if they have have or claim children. The EITC is a "refundable tax credit, which means the IRS will pay it out even if no taxes have been withheld or paid in. So the IRS gives filers who claim the EITC "refunds," even if they have had no taxes withheld.
These number renters can claim up to $4,400 for the 2005 tax year in EITC "refunds," most of the number renters probably claim this maximum refund. The Additional Child Tax Credit is another "refundable" credit which is no doubt routinely claimed by these renters.
For 2005, if the number renter claimed $14,400 in wage income, and three children, between the EITC and the Additional Child Tax Credit the renter would, without having any taxes withheld from wages, receive a tax "refund" of $4,898, plus have $892 credited to Social Security; in addition to the potential of thousands of dollars in California unemployment compensation.
Wrong! The CIA's world fact book states that Mexico's population is 107 million (July 2006 est.) .
That mission is rapidly being accomplished. With any luck, an American high school grad today might aspire to a mid-level Wal-Mart management position unlike the many options 50 years ago.
Mexico is the staging area and worldwide destination point for illegals since they can almost waltz across---it's that easy. The crossers includes numerous illegals from Central and South American countries including Third World countries like Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras-----all lining up to suckup US gov't freebies (paid for by US taxpayers).
During the recent street protests, the signage and shouts indicate they plan to takeover the US using the vote---and violence, if necessary.

When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer 'Present' or 'Not guilty.' Theodore Roosevelt 26th president of US (1858 - 1919)
...... few provisions of the Senate bill have caused more head-scratching among opponents than a last-minute amendment that requires the U.S. to consult with Mexican officials before commencement of any fence construction along the border. "I don't know what they were thinking on that one," Mr. Sensenbrenner said.
Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican, said he met last week with a group of hotel executives from Marriott International Inc. He told them about the consultation requirement. "People in the front of the room were saying, 'No. No. That's not possible,' " he recounted. "Really," he told them. "I'm not making this up."
The "consult with Mexico" provision was inserted in the bill moments before it was voted on at the behest of Sen. Christopher J. Dodd, Connecticut Democrat. It says soliciting views "of affected communities lessen tensions and foster greater understanding." "It is simply common sense and common courtesy to consult those individuals in our own communities and in affected communities on the other side of the border before constructing a fence," Mr. Dodd said. The consultation amendment, he said, would "foster the kind of cooperation that is vital if we are going to once and for all secure our borders."

A million torch-bearing angry Americans marching on Washington might wake up the imbeciles who are pretending to represent us as they pray to the alter of foreign interests.
75% of Washington "elected ones" need to be replaced ASAP. They're selling America to the highest bidders. We need some real Americans there.
Rant and rave all you want. You cannot address the facts.
Your side has lost every election it throws it weight into which indicates you are NOT the political dynamos you continually claim you are.
Your numbers change everytime you need a new excuse to beat this dead horse. The US House has all ready said there will BE no Immigration bill this year.
The fact is you people HAVE nothing to say. With out this issue to rant and rave and whine about there is simply nothing for you to talk about.
That why your side cannot win a single election. This issue is only import to YOU handful of ranters and whiners. The bulk of Freepers simply tune out the continual ranting and raving since they never hear anything but the same old screaming, repeated endlessly.
"Consult" does not equal permission.
The Senate bill is bad. Why do we have to make additional bad things up.
That's what you call manufacturing "red-meat", to be thrown at all the mindless moon-barkers. They then will rant, rave, bark up a storm all about something that is a made up lie/distortion. Their masters will then sit back and LAUGH at what a bunch of easily controlled robotons they all are.
Heck they are rooting for the Marxist in Mexico for president. Let's see if they "win" that one too.
