Think the immigration debate is mainly about giving amnesty to the 10 million illegals already here? Think again. Amnesty is a drop in the bucket. The real issue is the staggering increase in legal immigration hidden in the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, recently passed in the Senate. By a ratio of about 4-1, U.S. voters would prefer less immigration, not more. But the Senate bill would do just the opposite. The original bill would have allowed as many as 100 million people to legally immigrate to the United States over the next 20 years. We're talking about a seismic shift of unprecedented proportions.
Facing criticism, the Senate has amended the bill - which now would allow "only" 61 million new immigrants. That still more than doubles the current legal immigration rate, from 1 million a year now to 2.5 million.
Current law would let 19 million legal immigrants enter the United States over the next 20 years; the Senate immigration bill would add an extra 42 million.
Why such extraordinary growth? Consider how the new law would work.
Under the Senate bill, immigrants could enter or attain lawful status within the country through nine channels. In each channel, immigrants would gain permanent residence and the right to become citizens:

"I also seem to remember them for rabid, personal attacks against Ann Coulter too."
And Peggy Noonan. And anyone opposing the Harriet Miers nomination. And anyone opposing the Dubai deal.
I'm sure there's more.
"LOL!!! Does anybody realize that is about 60% of Mexico's entire population? I'm as anti-illegail0immigrant as the next guy but to believe that essentially 2/3 of Mexico is going to pack up and sneak accross the border is just, well, silly."
First off, it's over a number of years. Second off, their population is not growing slowly, so it's not impossible. Third off, surveys of the Mexican populace have shown that something like 50% of their college students want to go to America. Why should the rest of the population be different--especially when that rest of the population is usually the peon class that really benefits from coming to the U.S. anyway?

Oh God! Please stop it with all the moon-barking idiocy! Did you graduate from the Micheal Moore School of Moonbarking?!
Serously... I also heard that the Bilderbergers have passed a "secret" US law that allows all illegal immigrants traveling on this highway to take by eminent domain, the property of any US citizen within 5 miles of this US highway and build TACO stands. DID YOU KNOW THAT? NO?!!
When it fails, prepare for anarchy. Stock up on all things that might preserve yourself and family.
I put a fence up around my backyard. Before I put the fence up I consulted with my neighbors. One neighbor said he was having a party on a specific date. So I told him that I wouldn't have the fence guys over on that date. Another neighbor said I should avoid her garden. So I told her no problem-o (that's Spanish lingo for the word "problem"), we'll do our best to avoid your garden.
/consultation
At no time did I ask permission to put up a fence.
To "consult with" does not mean to "get permission from".
But the liberals in the Senate and the fear mongers on the right have you believing it.
Thank heaven most people aren't as easily swayed as you are. My advice to is keep your distance from anybody who call themselves a "consultant".
They'll have their way with you -- Boo!
LOL!

My advice to you is keep your distance from anybody who calls themselves a "consultant".
They sure will, by raising taxes (thereby raising the burden) or reducing benefits. Either way, the standard of living tanks and folks start looking at other options.
That you choose not to see where things are headed does not make me a kook, anything but that, it makes you an ostrich.
bttt
Gee, that's my title---what do I do now?
Why do our Senators feel the need to promise massive immigration?

Grant permission to build a fence... (LOL!)
"I dont believe that alqaeda terrorists will slip across our southern border (as Hannity harps about)as they can already get here easily with normal visa manipulations."
if you do some googling you'll find the numbers of OTM and specifically "Middle Eastern Types" that the BP reported were coming through the Southern Border a while back, I haven't researched the numbers in a while but these camel jockeys are probably back actors that would have a difficult time making it through the northern border and/or JFK...
"my thread and blather on. In the mean time, take it elsewhere."
Is that right? Why don't you just delete the posts that blather on?
How many new low skilled immigrants is enough for you? Or, do you think we should just open our doors?
I have seen so many threads where you come on and whine about "whiners" and then never post again on that thread. Since you are now defending the open borders stance of so many bushbots you are now just as irrelevant as before.
"Why don't you just" try minding your own business.
"Why do our Senators feel the need to promise massive immigration?"
'Rats are pandering to Hispanics eventhough the majority of Hispanic Americans are AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
RINO's are pandering to big business who profit from cheap labor while you, I and American taxpayers pick up the tab for allowing illegals to stay here.
He stands so much to gain in earnings and standings in the future from being the WH butt boy Press Guy that it isn't funny. Problem is, that he's still selling us a bill of goods (nogoods) on the illegal issue.
He's sold out for GWs line on illegals (misguided as it is) and that's sad.
I'm with W on the WOT, defense, and some other things but he's screwed the pooch on illegals, government giveaways, and increasing entitlements in my book --saything that after having voted for him twice, and a third if it was possible. But, he needs to be convinced somehow.
