As Americans prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July, safety nannies will be urging a national ban on the sale and use of consumer fireworks. Citing injuries to children as the primary concern, a report in the July issue of Pediatrics will reiterate the American Academy of Pediatrics long-standing call for a consumer fireworks ban. Its no coincidence that the study is being released the day before our July 4 holiday. But before we allow the nannies to trample over our recreational not to mention our civil liberties on the holiday intended to celebrate liberty itself, lets consider a few relevant points....

Stuck on stupid!
I hope that fruit never gets into firearms.
Life is hard...life is harder if you're stupid.
I missed it...can you give me the gist in a private reply?
A pity he didn't burn his "jewels" off and spare us another generation of morons.
They're fun for kids, but we've got a virtual statewide ban on outdoor fireworks for all but the professionals in Texas due to the drought. And, I agree with it.
The two bombs in your dashboard will never start a widfire
that causes great harm to structures and people.
One firework caused 5000 ac and two homes three years ago
2 miles from me. Hundreds of fires in the dry West will be caused by fireworks this weekend --- believe it!
Now do you understand?
Bear Firecrackers?
There's no ban in Bandera County. C'mon down and have some fun!
Believe it or not, the United States was still a relatively free country in 1955. WE had firecrackers, roman candles, skyrockets, helicopter skyrockets, bottlerockets, and God knows what all and nobody gave a rat's a$$ about it.
Be careful with that line of thought as the same logic could be used to ban smoking during droughts.
A few years ago some neighbors bought fireworks and started setting them off at the end of the street. Some killjoy busybody apparently called the cops, for a little while later a black Hummvee with its headlights off came gliding up the street. As it ominously circled the cul-de-sac we could see the logo of county government on the side, and the words "Bomb Disposal Unit." This is how the bastards think. Having a sparkler here is akin to having a dirt nuke, something they need a bomb disposal expert to get rid of! God forbid we should exercise our constitutional right to burn our hands.
That logic could be used to ban very nearly everything. Punishing citizens not for what they have done but what they might potentially do is dangerous.
I guess we can just burn Flag Shaped fireworks?
I remember way back in elementary school (mumble mumble) years ago, our teachers read us the story of a dumb little boy who lit a firecracker in his hands and didn't throw it in time, and went blind forever...the only think it taught us was to be a little faster than a firecracker.. now several weeks before the 4th, our locality is bombarded with propaganda public announcements against "illegal fireworks" i.e. anything not locally bought.. people have been going over the border to Nevada in droves and buying the good stuff.. because the stuff we're allowed is pretty limpwristed... for awhile they tried forcing us to sign a "safety contract" and a "permit" whenever we bought fireworks locally.... they stopped that because it wasn't enforceable..
One more time: NO FIREWOKS WHEN THERE IS A REAL DANGER TO CAUSE DAMAGE AND LOSS OF LIFE!
Where I live there is a real danger. We need a rain badly!
Light off what every you want in Maryland I could care less. But don't do it where I LIVE!
