It craves attention, is all. If I am going to "pay" attention, I want value for my money.

Help is on the way!

Texas Guard Meets Border Deployment Schedule

(July 1, 2006)—The deployment of Texas Army National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to support Operation Jump Start is on schedule, Gov. Rick Perry said Friday.

“Texas has activated more than 700 Texas Army National Guard troops and more than 300 Texas Air Guard troops under Operation Jump Start orders, and they have already reported for duty along the border or are on their way,” Perry said.

“We are on schedule – actually a bit ahead of schedule – at this point, and will continue to ramp up to meet the requirements of the mission in our state.”

The goal was to deploy 500 troops by the end of June and 1,500 by the end of July.

Perry has authorized as many as 2,300 Texas Guard members to support the Border Patrol temporarily until new agents have been hired and trained.
