Iranian drone plane buzzes U.S. aircraft carrier in Persian Gulf (Russian Source)

Tehran: A pilotless Iranian reconnaissance plane circled for 25 minutes over a U.S. aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf before returning safely to its base, a senior Iranian official said Tuesday.

"Our pilotless reconnaissance plane flew over the USS Ronald Reagan in the Persian Gulf unnoticed to the Americans for 25 minutes," the official said, according to Iran's Fars agency.

He did not say when the flight took place, but added that U.S. radars picked up the unmanned aerial vehicle after 25 minutes, and that four USAF fighters and two helicopters were scrambled to intercept it. However, the Iranian plane had already crossed the border back into Iran and landed at its base.

Given their brotherhood's prediliction for unprovoked jihad attacks, it wouldn't surprise me that they'd wire some Semtex and a radio-remote detonator and try to dive the thing into some parked aircraft on the deck of a U.S. carrier and try to set off the fuel tanks.

I'm quite certain that the slightest indication of hostile intent by the drone would result in its immediate demise. If it really did get anywhere near the carrier, that happened only because we allowed it to happen. (I'm also quite sure that we were monitoring and recording every electronic transmission to and from the drone to analyze its capabilities.)

We definitely got to be on our toes with these clowns.

Agreed. But, then again, especially since the Cole attack, I'm very sure that we are. (That carrier skipper who somehow let a small boat get too close in the gulf last year provided a serious lesson for other commanding officers. I have to wonder what his next command was.)

Must be the newly integrated navy. (sarc). You and I both know USAF weenie pilots don't have the brass required to operate from a carrier.

The incident I was referring to occurred out in the Persian Gulf in open waters. IIRC, there was actually a collision between one of our carriers (sorry, I forget which one) and a small boat (a dhow?) -- a very dangerous situation that never should have been allowed to happen.

BTW, I liked the article saying that USAF jets tried to intercept the drone. Those launches and carrier landings must be a bear for those Air Force guys. :=)

Don't forget that the Clintoon civillians told the military to keep security on deck to a minimu, so as not to inflame Yemen pissholes while in port.

Normal security in port in a hostile port was not imiplemented, on orders from the feel-good-world-peace-pansy-police. Then they blamed it on the skipper.

He, He, He, I had one of those drones when I was a child - it came with a two-winged airport and helicopter with pad that was manual crank for liftoff. None of the airport passengers had arms???. Thank you for the memory.

The Iranians have released the video footage taken by the UAV. Iranian maritime patrol aircraft also conduct visual observations of Coalition naval forces in the Gulf.

Tomorrow is the 30th, so you're a day early. LOL

Talk about a necro thread. Let's see a link to the video please. Our carrier patrols will only let other aircraft within a certain distance, and the claim by those who put out this 'bulletin' this past summer had nothing to offer in the way of video, and I've not heard of it to date until your post.

Link to the UAV footage of a Nimitz Class:

Iranian maritime patrol aircraft also conduct visuals on Coalition Naval forces. As long as the UAV keeps out of the flight pattern it is free to monitor such shipping in international waters.

Interesting video, but it is certainly not able to be credibly certified as 'authentic'. It seems more likely that it is a video that was acquired by Iran and presented as originating from an Iranian drone. I doubt it.

However, for the sake of argument, let's say it is 'authentic'. It would then follow that the U.S. carrier group likely felt it was no threat and ignored it. precisely what use is it other than propaganda? Does anyone actually believe that Iran would have a chance in hell of surviving an armed conflict with the U.S.?

My primary interest in this thread is why you seem to think such drivel from the retards in Iran is 'significant' enough to resurrect a 6 month old thread.
