First Congress Then Louisiana Governor Race For Jindal

An e-mail appeal was sent this morning from the campaign office of Congressman Bobby Jindal (R-Kenner), with this title, “We must raise $21,201 in 48 hours!” Is Jindal in financial trouble? No, he has more money in his account than any other Louisiana congressman, a pretty impressive situation for such a newcomer. Does Jindal have serious opposition in his congressional re-election campaign to warrant concern? No, no reputable candidate one would be foolish enough to run against such a popular congressman.

The purpose of the e-mail appeal is to excite supporters to help the congressman “reach our goal.” Jindal wants to “win re-election this November. To do that, I must rev up my campaign and raise the necessary resources to overcome any battle.” The first step for Jindal is to win re-election to Congress this fall. It will be done with ease, but Jindal obviously wants to continue to impress political observers with his fundraising prowess and his electoral success. While he will undoubtedly cruise to victory this fall, Jindal wants to make sure the margin is overwhelming. A strong re-election victory will be a springboard to the governor’s race next year, which is the Congressman’s ultimate goal. . . .

In the immediate aftermath of Katrina Blanco looked worse than horrible and since then she has picked a couple of good fights to help her cause. But the outmigration of her base of support in Orleans Parish -- she's short about 100,000+ votes there -- coupled with some very sour opinions of her that have not gone away after Katrina, give Bobby Jindal a good chance to beat her for Governor in 2007 in my opinion.

Landrieu is vulnerable to ANY of the GOP Congressmen in the state, and we'll take out that trash, too. But right now, Louisiana needs a Governor, not a whiny twit. Jindal fell victim to Blank-o's race-baiting appeals to the David Duke voters, and even they're gonna be voting for Bobby next time around. They may be racist, but they're not stupid.

I think I agree with fieldmarshaldj Recovering_Democrat. The political calculation of removing a Democrat from the Senate is secondary to making Louisiana work right now. We have a $#@@&&&$$%+@@$$##@ mess in this state right now and we have never been more in need of someone competent to take over than we are right now.
