Israel Air Force aircraft early Friday struck the Palestinian Interior Ministry in Gaza City, Palestinian witnesses said, setting it on fire.
There was no word of casualties as smoke and flames rose from the building in downtown Gaza City.
The Interior Ministry is nominally in charge of Palestinian security forces, though Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas removed most of its authority.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed its planes hit the office of Interior Minister Said Siyam, which it called "a meeting place to plan and direct terror activity."
The government decided Thursday evening to put off a fresh IDF military offensive in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanun, due to be launched later that night. (Click here for a map of Gaza)
The decision was made following consultations held by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Amir Peretz with security officials, after Egypt asked Israel to allow more time for negotiations on the release of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, abducted Sunday from a post near the Gaza border.
The operation was aimed at halting Qassam rockets from being fired at southern Israel. Meanwhile, six of the homemade rockets struck the western Negev and Sderot on Thursday evening. There were no casualties.

Earler story of release deal may be premature.

They should take out a building every hour until the soldier is released.
Looks like they will need some new interior in the ministry.

ironically the exterior of the interior ministry was destroyed first
I hope I'm wrong, but its my suspicion his fate has already been taken care of by the monsters, and they will find a suitably 5th-column way of turning this against Israel. Perhaps by floating this idea, it won't happen, as it will seem more like plagarism rather than anything remotely possible. Anyways, I'd presume the IDF would be pretty sure that whatever they target does not have Shalit inside...
Sha'al shalowm Yruwshalaim.
