I've been a street Freeper for years now, and I've seen the presence of a single Freeper discombobulate the enemy, change how the media covers a story and even generate postive stories when there wouldn't have been a story otherwise. Besides that, anyone who has been paying attention over the last 8 years knows how street Freepers have made the domestic enemy's lives difficult.
I will not cede the streets to those who call my president--and my friends and nephew who serve under him--terrorists and try to sell our country out for a Pulitzer.

If you and firebrand want to dance in front of the NY Times, be my guest, for perchance the millisecond of footage that the MSM will show, followed by the spin of how rabid and foolish you made Conservatives look. That's 100% crap.
If you don't want to be pinged, that's beautiful. But those who sit at a keyboard and denigrate what we do are saying they want to spend the war shoveling horse crap in Louisiana, and are due the equivalent respect.
So, four words for you:

My complaint isn't with the First Amendment, per se.
It's with one of its undergirding premises, that man can be his own watchdog.
("The fox guarding the White House, if you will.")
.. or as that fierce defender of a free press, H. L. Mencken, (perhaps inadvertently) put it,
"It is hard to believe that a man is telling the truth when you know that you would lie if you were in his place."
- "What is government itself but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary."
-
James Madison
When the founders granted 'The Press' special dispensation, they never considered the possibility that traitors in our midst would game the system. But that is precisely what is happening today. (Hate America? Support jihad? Become a 'journalist!') This was bound to happen. The premise behind the First Amendment as it applies to the press--that a vigilant watchdog is necessary, sufficient--indeed, possible--to protect against man's basest instincts--is tautologically flawed: The fox guarding the White House, if you will....

If it would be possible to move the date to the weekend, like July 9th, some of us Coastal NJ PWs would love to join you. We have been throwing around the idea of a NY Times protest since the NSA leak.

Oops! What happened to the 5 day chart today? A rebound by the nyt stock?!?! Whoda thunk it; particularly in the present environment? Someone helping prop up the stock for our show??? We have our ways; maybe we should go with a longer time frame. A better indicator of the trend anyway.....

How about a boycott of NYT advertisers? It doesn't have to be limited to New York, either. I'd bet there are plenty of advertisers that do business in other cities across the country.
Since I don't read it in Kansas City, I don't know who runs ads in it but I'd expect Macy's does and they just took over several department store chains in places like KC, St. Louis and Denver.
There have to be others. General Motors? Honda? I don't mean local dealers. I mean corporate ads.
Cell phone companies.
Who are their biggest advertisers?
Let them know that there is a price to pay for treason.

Awesome thread, once everyone convinced a certain FReeper beginning with "s" that it wasn't about her/him (?). Good luck with this very important FReep. The hearts of many of us will be with you.

If I can get there that is.
Lots of stuff still "up in the air" on my end.
Especially with the recent flooding here.
