Ultra-Orthodox Jews attack Christian tourists in Jerusalem

A group of 50 pro-Israel Christian tourists came under attack Wednesday from some 100 residents of the ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Mea She'arim in Jerusalem. Three of the tourists and a police officer were wounded in the attack. They received treatment at the scene. The tourists arrived at Mea She'arim wearing orange T-shirts with the words "Love your neighbor as yourself" printed across them. As they neared one of the squares, the local residents apparently identified them as Christians and began to hit them. Police forces in the area stepped in to stop the violence, but did not make any arrests. Police say they are waiting for the tourists to file official complaints.

I think you're wasting your time with Mr. Jefferson. He sounds like one of "GiantConservative"'s fellow Marcionites. After all, Thomas Jefferson, champion of tolerance and freethought though he was, despised and hated the "old testament" G-d and religion, and eviscerated it out of his Bible (he endorsed "the teachings of J*sus," though of course he was an anti-supernatural deist and wanted to reduce chr*stianity to ethics). But hey, he didn't proselytize!
The Jews of the day preferred the anti-Torah deist Jefferson to the "bigoted" Judaeophilic Puritans (of New England rather than the South at the time). That pattern seems to repeat over and over throughout American history.

[You might as well complain about sports fans who attack another group of fans who are wearing jerseys of the opposing team.]
Your probably right.

Go back to shaving your "bible," Jacobin.

I understand you anger and frustration. It hurts for some to watch the Jews assert themselves as they are doing tonight in Gaza. On beaches and everywhere else.
Get over it and crawl back under your rock.

Just a tiny reminder that there are still some Fundamentalist Protestants who are predestinarian Calvinists and who therefore won't try to convert anyone. They kinda get forgotten by everyone, but they're still here . . . some of them on FR.

You're wasting your time with this guy (or girl). There's an anti-Jewish web site somewhere (I saw it once) which attacks the Jews in the name of eighteenth century Jeffersonian enlightenment rationalism and loudly advocates "chr*stianity" (purified of "Semitic superstitions" and reduced to rationalistic ethics). Anyone attacking Jews using the name "JeffersonRepublic" sounds pretty much like someone cut from the same cloth.
These people will be with us until Mashiach HaMelekh buts a sword to their necks (and the sooner the better!).

Yeah, I don't think that's cool. I'd have more sympathy if they served in the army like everyone else, and were a bit more patriotic. They harass other Jews, too, on occasion. Not often, but don't make a habit of driving through the area on the Sabbath.

I prefer both to crypto-marxist or social democrat Democrats. I've got to be honest with you.

Since when is blowing up families at the beach considered just as "Jews assert themselves". Maybe they were targeting a terrorist on the beach, but they missed. Israel has been "missing" a lot lately.
Violence is a vicious cycle. Kill someones family while they are enjoying the beach, and their people will want revenge. It works both ways.

How are they "best equipped to teach"? Maybe the Jews should go back to bombing muslims sun bathing on the beach, and leave the christians alone.
You continue to give yourself away.

That doesn't surprise me. They sound like a hateful group looking for a reason to attack.

No, let's don't. God chose the Jews. He doesn't need second-guessing.

I've found the
web site I told Sabramerican about. It sounds like Tex-Oma's philosophy. There really is a tradition of freethinking, enlightenment anti-Semitism.
As a former chr*stian, I understand where the missionaries are coming from. I wish dedicated Jews understood the compulsion from Heaven these people feel that they are under to convert everyone (just as Jews are obligated to bring all the nations of the world to the Seven Laws of Noah). Usually the only response these people hear is hostile criticism, but surely there are more positive and profitable reactions. Simply to point out that the ancient Biblical Jews they love so much didn't go around trying to convert people to chr*stianity seems better than a mere attack that could come just as easily from Roman Catholic or Orthodox chr*stians. Considering that Judaism is really the only religion actually advocated by the Bible and practiced in it, maybe they could see that the people they are trying to convert are already much closer to the ancient Biblical Hebrews than any chr*stian, even a "Hebrew chr*stian," will ever be.

Ha'aretz hates religious Jews. You can't know what really happened based on a report by them.

I have no problem with them fighting terror, but they seem to be fighting terror with terror. This I don't understand. Maybe I'm not getting all the information. But, if they are at war, why not take it to their enemies and leave the innocent alone.
I might be ignorant, but I'm not a antisemitic. I don't understand why Israeli can't bomb the HamAss leadership, but instead bombs beaches, bridges, power stations, water pumps and farms.

Refresh my memory, were you criticizing APRPEH for bigoted posts? Perhaps that was someone else.
Doesn't take long on these threads to figure people out.
