WASHINGTON - Ralph Klein came to Washington looking to persuade American lawmakers they need more of Alberta's oil.
It took him about 10 minutes to convince the chairman of the U.S. Senate's powerful energy committee.
After a brief meeting with Klein in his Capitol Hill offices, New Mexico Senator Pete Domenici emerged with the Alberta premier and declared the U.S. is ready to buy as much oil as the western province can produce. Moreover, he naturally assumes most of the black gold will flow south.
''We will increase our purchase directly in relationship as to how much is produced in Canada. There can be no question about it,'' said Domenici, a Republican.

(((.)))
We are going to have to have some source when Venezuela and Mexico dry up completely, as they shift all their production to China.
We still have the oil shale of Utah and Colorado to open for exploitation.
Nobody is doing any serious harvest of Methane Hydrate from the ocean floor yet.
And thermal depolymerization of organic waste from ALL sources has HUGE potential.
Great news!!!
I'm sure it is.
I really think this is a win win for both nations. I also think that when they finally get done properly exploring the tar sands, the reserve will be much bigger than what Saudia Arabia has.
Canada ping!
Please send me a FReepmail to get on or off this Canada ping list.
Alberta should become the primary source for US oil.
I had a chat with a guy on an oil-sands project a few kicks from the Arctic Circle, and it is a vertitable boomtown up there...sounds reminiscent of the Klondike Gold Rush.
Good for Alberta!
