"In a highly publicized public relations event" Is there any other kind for Jean Francois?

"Sen. John Kerry outlined his proposal that the Federal Government mandate"

It must be so nice to be a "Democrat". You just issue a "mandate" or decree and presto, changeo,...problems solved, reality overcome and the world is fixed.

The Dims seem to have all the magic bullets don't they?

Why don't some people know when to go away, retire and shut up?

I don't know how much fuel oil New England burns in a year, but I never hear of anybody proposing to convert that consumption to electric heat.

Overall, residential non-transportation makes up about 4% of the US petroleum usuage.

And of course, he and his would not be affected at all by such legislation.

In typical liberal fashion, Kerry hasn't proposed cutting back on his fuel usage, for his private jet to get to his 5 different houses around the country. Three purple hearts - my ass !! Kerry is a traitor.

Kerry can start by quit driving all those SUV's boats, cut the power off his mansions, quit flying all over the country making an @ss of himself.

One of the most wasteful people on the planet telling others to cut back on their usage, HA! What a dipstick.

Personally, I think they have magic wands, gossamer wings and tutus. Bullets are so, well, mean.

He has a gift for making stupidity sound thoughtful. Mr. Kerry is such a putz.

What a collossal understatement! If ketchup were brains, Mrs. Kerry would be a pauper...

When we get closer to the election, some enterprising soul might stand to make a few quick bucks selling campaign buggy whips out of hockey sticks and switch-grass.

My God. Pointing a gun level downrange, finger in the trigger guard, looking somewhere else, and yelling. Who taught him to handle a shotgun? More to the point, this photo was obviously released by his campaign. Whoever did the releasing didn't know squat.

And, if it goes off, he's going to have a gigantic bruise on his bicep for about three weeks.

Tell Kerry the Fairy to make ethanol from ethane gas and water..it's a lot cheaper, and wastes no edible grain.

I'm not for a lot of government mandates, but this writer is full of it. It matters not that Biobutanol can run in engines that have not been modified. It's too expensive, and if the price does come down it can run in flex fuel vehicles just as well as it runs in standard vehicles. In reality, most standard vehicles can handle a good 25% ethanol actually, although you would void your warranty if you used fuel that was more than 10% ethanol. There are already several million E85 compatible vehicles on the road, most of which are SUV's and other large vehicles. Manufacturers have been taking advantage of tax benefits they derive from producing E85 compatible vehicles, but they haven't necessarily been telling consumers about this. My little brother just found out that the Chevy Tahoe he bought new a few years ago is E85 compatible. Producing vehicles that are E85 compatible only costs a couple of hundred bucks more, but tax breaks make it such that in most cases you won't pay a dime more for E85 compatibility. I wish more fuel efficient smaller vehicles were E85 compatible. I'm not in the market for a new car, but when I do replace the car I drive I'll be looking for one that is E85 compatible just in case gas prices stay high and ethanol prices get reasonable after the supply issues are worked out. I might never use E85, but I'd like to have the option to use it when prices are down to where it will cost roughly the same or less to get where I'm going on E85 as it will with straight gasoline. I'd even pay a little bit more to get from point A to point B with ethanol because I would rather support American farmers and American ethanol producers than Arabs or dictators. I am not for mandating that all cars be E85 compatible. I think market forces will cause manufacturers to offer more E85 compatible vehicles though, and when I look for a vehicle in the future E85 compatibility will definitely be a big selling point for me.

All true. But then, for Kerry, the gun was a prop, not a weapon. If it had gone off due to his inattention and violation of basic gun safety rules, and an innocent spectator had been struck with pellets, do you think the media would have handled it like they did Dick Cheney's accident? That's correct: it would have been the gun's fault.

Look at this!!!

"mandate a reduction in oil consumption of 2.5 million barrels of oil a day ---"

"mandate 1800 new Ethanol fuel pumps across the country right away"

"he wants auto manufacturers to be forced to produce vehicles with “Flex Fuel” engines"

John Kerry is delusional!! You have to hope a half bright audience would have been rolling in the aisles at what Kerry thinks can be mandated and forced by his mere word.
