Dean: 'We're About to Enter the '60s Again'
CNSNews.com ^ | June 28, 2006 | Randy Hall

America is about to revisit one of the most turbulent decades in its history, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean told a religious conference in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday. "We're about to enter the '60s again," Dean said, but he was not referring to the Vietnam War or racial tensions.

Dean said he is looking for "the age of enlightenment led by religious figures who want to greet Americans with a moral, uplifting vision."

"The problem is when we hit that '60s spot again, which I am optimistic we're about to hit, we have to make sure that we don't make the same mistakes," Dean added. See Video

"Truly, he is delusional and mentally-ill.

Keep it, Howie baby."

I assumed Howie thought it still IS the sixties.

Seriously, with each comment Dean makes, I suspect more and more that he is a deep-cover GOP operative who answers directly to Karl Rove.

We couldn't have asked for a better head of the DNC.

"The 60's" = stoned children sitting naked in the mud waiting for the adults to bring them food.

The only "cool" think in the 1960's was the space program. The rest is just a hangover.

"Howard Dean's political perspective is derived from a 1960s counterculture view of the world."

The counterculture BECAME the establishment and has infested every vestage of our lives, including pro-homosexuality, pro-extramarital sex, pro-abortion churches.

You hit the nail on the head. And people like Clinton, Kerry, and Dean are the products of it - short haired hippies wearing suits. Clinton, so far, is the only president we have had that is representative of that counterculture.

She was still stuck with those dumb "straight-sided" dresses with absolutely no waist- or even chest-line! Like, no showing of the form whatsoever - wear a box, why don't you?

I don't know how, but I've always heard John Lennon's "Nobody told me there'd be days like these." as "Nobody told me there'd be ice cream."

The photo you posted just proves that the influence of the 1960's is still very much with us. In the pre-hippie era no young woman would appear in public in denim shorts with unhemmed (even untrimmed)leg openings. Nor would she wear a t-shirt with a rude slogan. This get up would have been considered unfeminine and low class.

There there was at least one good thing about the 1960s.

Yup, truly, THEY were the "selfish", as they ridiculously accused so many others of being. You see it all the time, but that no draft-no protest thing is the capper.

Dean said he is looking for "the age of enlightenment led by religious figures who want to greet Americans with a moral, uplifting vision."

That sounds frighteningly like they are wishing for the Anti-Christ to show up. Mr. 666. Uh-oh. Not me.

I'll stick with Jesus and his message.
