In all seriousness though the author left out that very small turnout, which I believe was something like 7% in Salt Lake County and that was probably the reason for Cannon's 19% decline. People it seems in Salt Lake County despite all the publicity did not care about the issue of immigration to come out and vote.
Will be waiting for the tancredoties to spin for them what was a very bad night.
I'd tell you to be real careful about gloating but that would fall under the heading of 'pearls before swine'.

This is a Dane Alert
Dane has nothing of value to contribute to the discussion of illegal immigration. His sole purpose for posting anything on the subject is to anger, confuse, and demoralize those who are sick and tired of US Immigration laws being broken by millions of criminal invaders.
His prized goal is to get Freepers angry enough to forget the rules of the forum and then see them banned.
Do not fall into this trap. You're best course of action is to ignore Dane and his ilk and work very hard to see that the Senate Amnesty Bill dies a slow, painful, public, and ignominious death.
THIS HAS BEEN A DANE ALERT
We now return you to your regularly scheduled forum activities.

By November, immigration will shrink to its usual second-tier spot in the minds of most voters. The squealers and screamers will still insist it is the primary issue to GOPers, but it won't be.
Tancredo and Bay fired the silver bullet and it hit THEM, squarely between the eyes. Cannon was never on the ropes, and Jacob, when under pressure, revealed himself to be a mental patient. The good people of the 3rd district of Utah don't want to be represented by a mental patient.
Tancredo, by hooking up with Bay Buchanan, is jeopardizing his own career. She is poison.
"nuanced?" oh brother.
Dane, can you even vote in American elections? I mean, is it legal for you to vote here or do you have to go back to Mexico?
Could be Jacobs sounded like a nut. Low turnout could have been - lack of choice of anyone worth voting for.
Welcome back Dane! We changed your name while you were out. From now on it's *Dis-Dane-d*
Seriously, you actually bring quite a bit of passion to the forum.
Maybe Satan had something to do with the results. :)
Well Dane, looks like your 100% ACU ratings won the balttle last nite.
Congratulations to Cannon, to his supporters in UTAH and on this site.
Congratulations to President Bush and His First lady who intejected themselves
into a local GOP primary and last but not least, congratulations to La Raza.
I don't think a 15,752 total vote for Cannon in a country of 250 million is going to dampen our next battle.
Onward to the House Flied Hearings where the Senate bill in all it's glory
will finally see the light of day.
Bay Buchanan and her band of discontents were rejected by the Utah voters. She misrepresented Cannon's position and ran ads full of cheap theatrical tricks to fool the voters.
The Utah voters are smarter than the Buchanites think.

What a PANT-LOAD!
The challenger went "just a little" NUTS in the last days of the election, blaming "the Devil" for his slide in the polls.
This election, in a state I cannot vote in, has had NO effect on my determination to rid the U.S. of as many of the illegal invaders as possible.
This propaganda piece is crowing by the open borders lobby, and a clear reason for those who take the invasion seriously to work all that much harder.
LOL...She should try and keep up with current events........Cannon WON ! She LOST!
I am quite amazed at how little immigration actually resonates with real voters. The only race it appears to have effected (remember the Gilchrist juggernaut?) is the Bilbray race and it's not clear that it effected that either.
For all of the excuses, Cannon only outspent Jacob (according to some reports) 3-2. Any primary challenger anywhere in the country would kill to have a warchest 67% as large as the sitting incumbent.
Of course, Jacob had the disadvantage of having soft positions across the board and whose actual immigration proposal sounded worse than Cannon's. So maybe on balance voters do care, a little, when it's an issue being touted by a serious candidate.
Betcha Cannon has seen the light.
Wishful thinking. We've had gains and we've had losses. We'll evaluate, retool and fight again.
