(Glug...glug...glug)

Yep, its pretty wet here in Northern Virginia.

Thanks for posting this alert. I had been wondering what runoff was going to do to the rivers.

I'm there too, it's awful. I have a feeling the water won't be potable soon

All that hot air in Congress has finally formed a hole in the ozone right over DC, and this is the consequence.

I hear you. No news or warnings yet about untreated overflows out of the sewage system but it is something to keep in mind.

The last three days, my major worry has been overflow from our below-ground-level outside entrance drains There is some holding capacity in the catchment basin (say 40 gallons) to deal with backup from the relatively small 1 1/2" drain pipe. Sunday night got close. The rain was coming down nearly as fast as the catchment drain pipe and my brand new shiny 16 gallon wet/dry vac could drain it out. Sucked, shuttled, and drained about 160 gallons in a 30 to 45 minute period.

I did have a flood Sunday night - had about 6-8 inches of water in my entire condo. Still trying to clean up, what a mess. They came and ripped out all my carpet today. Hoping this storm coming up the coast doesn't do it all over again.

It would be possible to get tired of this. I'm almost there.

I'm about 50 miles west of DC, in the Middleburg area. We have been getting soaked. Looks like the worst is over here.

The potomac is awesome at Great Falls. You can see the splash from about 1/2 mile. Unfortuneately, that is as close as they will let you get. You can watch on tv news and when the water goes down some, you can get close and it is still impressive.

I was at Great falls (Virginia side) Tuesday afternoon and got a great view of the chocolate brown water from the overlooks. Iwas not foolish enough to be interested in going down to the river (at least 20 ft below the cliffs of Mather Gorge).
