Jacob blamed his defeat on President Bush's endorsement of Cannon, which was used in radio advertisements. It's Bush's fault.

The concession speech had a certain pathos to it. Jacob is taking this pretty hard. Sad really.

He was used by Tancredo that is what is sad.

I've always hated concession speeches where the losers places blame and doesn't accept that the voters just didn't want them.

Ok, assume for a moment that Dane had been hurling insults. I haven't looked at this particular argument, so I'm not going to take any sides there. IMO, most of the time, Dane seems to me to be really civil, although I see him as your polar opposite.
That does not excuse your comment. Tame or not tame. If you want to be the victim, you always have to take the perfectly moral high road and let this stuff roll off your back. Instead you get nasty back in exactly the same vein, and sometimes worse.
If you play...you pay. It's a simple as that. You set yourself up on a pedestal and tell people they're stupid, egg them on and then...when you lose and people have fun at your expense you pull out the victim card. What is with that?
Honestly. Cut others some slack and you'll be amazed how it comes back to you. I don't know who you are and you may very well be what you say...but I am constantly amazed that you trumpet your "political skills" yet have so little ability to even navigate the politics in this forum.
(BTW Dane, sorry I didn't ping you on the previous post.)

I think Jacob is a bit confused as to why he lost. He ponders that maybe it was Bush, but I think that is just his first cut at it. I don't think the Bush automated calls, had any impact at all myself, but that is just a guess.

Isn't it strange that Jacobs and his supporters trash the President consistently, they claim he's out of touch with the average American...then say they had their arses handed to them by a President who is polling somewhere around Herpes?
To: Torie; CWOJackson
To claim he had to beat the president too -- as though that surprised him.
Well, DUH, he ran with Tancredo and against POTUS's immigration positions.

I can see how he would be confused as a first timer in the political field. First time politicans dont realize at times that not all those people you met that said they were going to vote for you do. Part of it is they are just being nice.

It's over. With 89.25% reporting, Cannon is up 56.2% to 43.8%. Even if Jacob got every remaining vote, he'd still come up a bit short.

Herpes is popular as it were in this CD, more than any other perhaps on the fruited plain, but I just don't think automated calls move votes. What seemed to move voters in this CD was not voting. That seemed to be the runaway winner.

Jacob shot his campaign in the foot with all that Satan crap. When you do something like that, you might as well bow out and let the open-borders creep keep his seat.

True believers don't realize how scary a guy like Tancredo seems to the average voter. Even conservatives.
To: CWOJackson
Isn't it strange that Jacobs and his supporters trash the President consistently, they claim he's out of touch with the average American...then say they had their arses handed to them by a President who is polling somewhere around Herpes? Actually, the President's poll numbers are better in this particular district than almost anywhere else in the country.
And, John Jacob spent the campaign more or less kissing up to the President, in fact. The only distance from him he wanted was on immigration.
Which should surprise no one.
To: Tolerance Sucks Rocks
I wanted him to win but quite honestly his fast pass (whatever) for illegals was strange. That sounded nothing like Tancredo's position.

Fast pass for illegals? What did he do, suddenly start advocating AgJobs and guest worker programs?
